To sum up the whole issue, Trump is a degenerate like the vast majority of politicians. He is just less popular. Let's move on.

And there is also not wanting to embarrass his wife and family and Cohen lying it isn't like Cohen hadn't perjured himself before.

He had 10+ years to pay her off to prevent his family from finding out. Let's not be coy.

Nope he never went to trial he plead guilty. To avoid heavier fines and a longer jail sentence for tax evasion and fraud concerning taxi medallions. Note Hillary got a hundred k fine and no jail fine for her campaigns part in the illegitimate cross fire hurricane. It is a misdemeanor if there is any crime at all and as such well beyond the statute of limitations

Yes, JFK had multiple affairs. He called two of them “Fiddle and Faddle.” They had nude romps on the underground White House pool. His most dangerous one was with a woman who may have been an East German spy. Another one was Merlyn Monroe. She was unstable and threatened to spill the beans,

One difference was JFK didn’t have pay them money.

And she didn't come back hunting money until he announced for president. Can you say thinly veiled extortion?

    She wasn't hunting for money.

She was going to go to the press like Karen McDougal did, and Trump didn't want that to happen, because it was going to impact his election.

He doesn't give a **** about Melania. Let's not pretend he does. He was banging Stormy Daniels right after Barron was born. Melania didn't think he was faithful, he wasn't trying to stop her from finding out. She was a side piece herself, so she knew the game when she signed up to be Ms. Trump number 3.

Nonsense. She taken money and signed an NDA previously now she pops up again and you are silly enough to think she wasn't after money? I believe the word for that is naive.

I'm sorry you've hitched your wagon to someone with such poor moral character, it must be uncomfortable for you.

Given the fact that the other choices are far worse and vastly more dangerous for the country as a whole one takes what one can get.

That being said if Desantis does run I will support him over Trump.

This sounds an awful lot like a lawyer paying expenses for his client and later getting reimbursed -- an extraordinarily common thing. The only oddity in this situation is whether it was an unreported campaign contribution (by Trump in the end analysis) which is always -- except for target Trump -- handled administratively with an admonishment or maybe a fine depending on the degree with hardly any fuss or muss. I can't think of any time unreported campaign contributions went before any grand jury.

Once again, the felony element isn't in the campaign finance violation, but rather the falsified business documents to cover up said violation. This is where a misdemeanor becomes a felony offense. As for Cohen pleading guilty, it is a logical fallacy to suggest his admission of guilt is any kind of indication that a crime did not occur. All plea bargaining agreements need to be approved by a judge, and just like in a trial, a judge can have any invalid charges removed. The only difference is instead of making any effort to cast reasonable doubt onto a jury, the defendant admits that they committed what they are being accused of. However, if the accusations themselves are not a crime, the defendant can still have those charges appealed to a judge. That's how the law works, it's never the prosecution acting as the judge

Now if you want to argue that Cohen could have been successful at casting reasonable doubt unto a jury, that's one thing.. but to suggest that what he admitted to is not a crime or a felony is a complete logical fallacy.

Common perhaps, but definitely not the standard. Usually if a lawyer is making a payment on behalf of their client, the client gives them the money first, and then the lawyer carries out the transaction with said money. However, I think we're drifting away from the what should be emphasized here. It is the manner in which the reimbursement was made through a falsified business document that is the problem.

Again you can't make something a felony after the fact. Hillary' campaign did the same thing in regard to the Steele dossier. By the way what I'm arguing is that what cohen did or did not do and what he plead to are utterly immaterial to the case vis a vis Trump

Not necessarily. Congress has a taxpayer funded hush money kitty for this very thing: so members can pay people to ****. Are they trying to protect their campaigns, or future campaigns? Of course they are. Does that make campaign funds?

Let's say it's definitely campaign funds: it still isn't illegal. Candidates can contribute unlimited amounts of money to their campaigns.

It's illegal if you don't declare it as campaign spending.

Didn't Congress get rid of the side-piece slush fund? I think that it existed was disgraceful, but it doesn't have anything to do with Donald Trump's situation.

Lol...relax, trump is facing a lot more serious indictments for his attempted subversion of the 2020 election.
Georgia is sizing him up for conspiracy and racketeering and the DOJ is also moving forward with its own indictments.
You people will have plenty to gnash your teeth about as you watch trump held to account for his criminality and sedition.

Falsifying a business document to hide something illegal is a felony in of itself. It is not by any means making a felony out of something after the the fact. If you are falsifying a business document as means of avoiding potential fines, you are committing a felony. As for the Hillary Clinton campaign, there is a misconception that they hired Christopher Steele directly, in actuality they hired Fusion GPS to do opposition research. Christopher Steele was employed by Fusion GPS at the time, but he later broke away from the company to create his own dossier independently from the company.

The Clinton campaign would later be fined for failing to disclose the money they paid to Fusion GPS, but there were no falsified business documents to cover up this transaction. Once again, failing to disclose money spent to influence a candidate's performance in an election is illegal, but it is not considered to be a felony by itself. It is the falsified business documents in an effort to hide this illegal act that is a felony. Imagine receiving parking tickets and then using phony records to avoid paying the fine for said parking tickets. The former (the parking violation) is illegal, but not a felony, where as the latter act is a felony.
