All the hardships and suffering humans endure on this planet have been nullified by the pigmentation of my skin. Thank goodness. I'm not subject to poverty, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, disease, poor health, discrimination/racism OF ANY KIND, pure bad luck... none of it! What should I do about my superiority? I'm feeling pretty guilty about it. It's not my fault that I was born white, and race is irrelevant, but I must atone for my sins. How do I go about it?
White privilege is just another leftist dog whistle intended to maintain division. If the day ever comes when we all treat each other with respect, great affection and as fellow Americans the left is finished. Fortunately Americans enjoy the freedom to think for themselves, unlike the oppressed in Socialist/Marxist countries. We will not be cowed nor fall for their mind games. Eventually love will prevail.
Maybe white people should move to Mexico so we can live under Mexican privilege. Isn't that how it works? Sure would like to know how I got left out of the whole white privilege thang.
That isn’t really what white privilege means, regardless of your feelings on it it is disingenuous to believe it means white people are immune to “poverty, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, disease, poor health, discrimination/racism OF ANY KIND, pure bad luck” but rather it means that you are not necessarily treated differently because of your skin color. It could (and perhaps should) be called majority privilege as some form of it exists in virtually all nations.
Well there is a reason it's called white privilege and not majority privilege. Majority privilege is something that happens normally worldwide, so it doesn't fit the narrative that there is something uniquely evil about "white" privilege.
Literally no one has ever said white privilege means white people aren’t subject to poverty, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, disease, poor health, discrimination/racism OF ANY KIND or pure bad luck. No one.
White privilege is just code for being obnoxious/lazy /wanting attention/ playing the victim/and racism, If they really want equality ....just be better.
I was born, which in itself is a major miracle. I was born a human and not a bug or an animal. I was born white and in the US. I don't feel guilty. I feel grateful.
Never apologize for being white. So what of it? I dont care about no ones "feels" on the topic. I happen to be white, deal with it.
Telling an individual that they're privileged because of their skin color is treating them differently
Progressives - "Don't destroy my self loathing delusions!" Ever wonder why it's not called minority disadvantage as opposed to white privilege?
Good for you. If you listen to other Trump fans on the forum, however, they sure don't seem to be grateful. They are rather angry. Angry at all the "others" that are making their lives miserable, even while their party held the WH, both houses of congress and the SC. Go figure.
Because instead of moving with them to try and be a positive part of the solution for America, all of the "others" RESISTED. And that resistance in turn, undermines government for the foreseeable future. It sanctified resistance, so resistance is the new norm.
white privilege is a racist attack on white people class privilege is real, regardless of race, if your poor you will have a harder time white racism and black racism is real as well....
Maybe because America doesn’t want to “move with them” Had Republicans had a goal of anything besides stacking the courts and undoing Obama era policy maybe they would have met less resistance. Let’s see if Republicans “resist” if government flips back to Democrats in a few months — have you already forgotten the “party of no”? Or do you believe that wasn’t resistance?
If you read the post, I said resistance was the norm. Allow me to elaborate further. There's political resistance, and personal resistance. I wouldn't have minded nearly as much, and it wouldn't have been as destructive as such if Liberals said "We don't want a Conservative SCOTUS. Here's some alternatives instead." Or on a myriad of other issues, they could've participated. The House Speaker has been presented with 3 deals in the last 18 months and rejected every single one of them. They resisted, called him meanie, and did everything possible to destroy the public image of government while at the same time lamenting about the institutions. Not seeing(even to this day) that the nihilist destruction is at part cause for the situation, they continue unabated and don't realize this will hamper Biden should he get in office. It's more than the "party of no", it will be "the party of no on every matter, even on issues conservatives would've agreed with because you didn't treat our guy right." Nominate a far left justice? The hearings won't matter, the conservatives will vote that justice down in lock step. You won't get a Kavanaugh, but silence will be golden in the nay votes. Is it petty? Yep, but pettiness gets pettiness in return.
It was already “the party of no on every matter” during Obama. But you are right the hearings wont matter because they do not even allow the hearing to begin. Democrats, especially Biden, have been to apt to reach across the isle to try and reach compromise while the opposition party views each interaction through a war like stance. Conservatism is not how the majority of Americans self identify and it is becoming more and more partisan and extreme, it is time Democrats treat them the same.
We view 'conservatives' as partisan and extreme, so we should act partisan and extreme too. And that's why Gallup has consistently shown that both sides are growing more and more extreme. At this point, it's becoming less political and more tribal warfare. The framers would weep at the situation, as it's worse than the civil war. Back then, it was two different economies but now we're almost becoming two different people. That never ends well(see: Sudan).
"White privilege" is so much a thing you have whites pretending to be minorities, pocahauntus, martin luther cream...etc
What say you? You've shared your story that you(or was it your grandparents, I forgot) who moved away from an oppressive country to come to America. Is America's tribalism good or healthy for it, based on your past experiences?
