N.Y. prosecutor targeting Trump won’t stand for reelection - POLITICO 'Vance’s decision means the endgame of his office’s high-profile Trump probe will almost certainly be overseen by a new district attorney elected in November.' I wonder why. Just when they've gotten their hands on Trump's tax returns, Vance bails....
I seem to recall him mentioning before that he wouldn't be running again. Meanwhile, they've convened a grand jury and have sent additional subpoenas. Obviously they think they have something. He hasn't "bailed" from the case. Not by a long shot.
Gosh, who could figure that not actually finding that there was a case, that the prosecutor who likely would be sued for misconduct, then what will the next folks do?
If they didn't think there was a case, they wouldn't have convened a grand jury. And not seeking re-election wouldn't save him from any misconduct suits, so that fake excuse isn't going to work either.
You're right on the first point, wrong on the second, look at all the politically motivated prosecutions lately?
A grand jury is just a prosecutorial tool to obtain an indictment when they don't have the juice to get a direct one. The old saw, "you can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich" isn't far from the truth.
