    I seem to recall him mentioning before that he wouldn't be running again. Meanwhile, they've convened a grand jury and have sent additional subpoenas. Obviously they think they have something. He hasn't "bailed" from the case. Not by a long shot.

    Gosh, who could figure that not actually finding that there was a case, that the prosecutor who likely would be sued for misconduct, then what will the next folks do?

    If they didn't think there was a case, they wouldn't have convened a grand jury. And not seeking re-election wouldn't save him from any misconduct suits, so that fake excuse isn't going to work either.

    A grand jury is just a prosecutorial tool to obtain an indictment when they don't have the juice to get a direct one. The old saw, "you can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich" isn't far from the truth.
