The real issue is, how much would they have cut the budget if NASA hadn't jumped on the political bandwaagon of AGW?

 

What I have been saying all along. Anyone that questions the religion of AGW will be called a heretic.

 

Proving once again that it's just as wrongheaded to trust climate science to an engineer as it would be to fly into space with a rocket built by climate scientists.

James Hansen is an Astronomer.

Gavin Schmidt is a mathematician.

No I'm sorry the hallmark of climate science is fake experts. But that is neither here nor there. You don't have to be a Richard Lindzen(real climate expert BTW) to see what is going on in the flied of climate science. All that is needed is a degree in any field of science or engineering. Climate science isn't exactly rocket science.

 

Chris Kraft is a superstar at NASA.

 

I really dont think it will matter at NASA. There is too much mission creep. So much of NASA is now built around that mission creep that Hansen lives off of, in part only he makes a nice chunk of change through activism as well, that I dont think you will see any change at NASA. Too many people employed there doing stuff other than space exploration. The last thing they want is NASA focused.

 

And each of them has published dozens and dozens of peer-reviewed papers on climate change. That makes them climatologists.

Maybe if Schmidt actually had some expertise on the actual climate instead of running functions through computer models he wouldn't have screwed up on "why" the stratosphere cools in response to rising CO2 8 years ago and you wouldn't have looked to fool when you blindly repeated his mistake.

 

Possibly, but then again, everybody else ignores him. He's an 88 year old retiree who worked for NASA for a very long time as a flight engineer and mission controller, but really dude, he got his bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering in 1944 and he never went any higher. He is most certainly not any kind of expert on climate science so his opinions on that topic are almost as worthless as yours.

 

Does a person need a degree from a university to be an expert on a subject?

NASA was sold to the American people on the basis of manned space travel. The US government has abandoned space travel so the entire agency, which has been subverted by Warmers, should be sunsetted.

NASA was basically NACA given a lot of money and a bigger task, so the agency actually goes back to the 1930's.

 

The letter is correct, AGW is not a settled science and NASA has overstepped their 'pay grade'...Time for NASA to get back to human space travel so if/when our Earth becomes uninhabitable through cyclical, natural catastrophic events, our descendents will have options instead of facing certain annihilation.

 

Maybe. Interestingly however, in the land of the WWW, people seem to confuse reading a website of some sort or another with actually being an expert. The internet, they find, tends to be a great equalizer, allowing someone cowering from the world in moms basement, after having read a website or book, to suddenly think of themselves as "expert".

Peak oilers are the example I am most familiar with, but I imagine climate change and other topics are afflicted by the same basic problem.

Yes one priest writes something. It is reviewed by the council and if they find it divinely inspired they consider it to be canon added to the holy text.
