This is it. Everyone in Washington knew this was coming and they did nothing. They took care of their billionaire donors and went on vacation. The Congress went home for the weekend.

43 million Americans at risk of eviction as relief programs and moratorium expire: "It's a nightmare"

And what about the 'progressives, Bernie, AOC & co? What have they been doing this whole time? Grandstanding and shoving Joe Biden down our throats. Doing whatever Schumer and Pelosi tell them to do.

Bernie told his supporters to shut up and vote for Joe Biden. Stop demanding Medicare for All, marijuana legalization and basic rights for Palestinians. You're not getting it.

The Democrats idea for helping evicted people: give them a lawyer.

This is playing right into the politicians hands. They want everyone to become dependent on the politicians to save them from the mess the politicians created.

Let this be a lesson to all the youngsters here. Don't let yourself get in a position of living check to check. Have a rainy day fund. Make good financial decisions. Maybe listening to Dave Ramsey would be in order.

Sure, some of the younger folks just starting out may be in dire straights right now because they haven't had enough time to build up their finances, but anyone over 30 years old should have had a contingency plan for when the poo hit the fan. This may be the time to sell those over-sized homes, or get out of that high rent, consolidate with family and friends, and get through this.

Well, well what do we have here? Massive homelessness? I think the politicians in Washington DC have just kissed their jobs goodbye. The people will remember this at the voting booth. Oh wait, the homeless can't vote can they? Crisis averted.

This was a planned event. Planned by those going to Davos every year most likely. Organized and "legal" plunder of the US Treasury.

Why not say employers should raise their wages?

78% Of Workers Live Paycheck To Paycheck - Forbes

    Half the country is poor.

Almost half of all Americans work in low-wage jobs - CBS News

Low-wage work is more pervasive than you think, and there aren't enough “good jobs" to go around

Great Employment Numbers: 44% of Fully Employed Make $18,000 a Year or Less

Because I believe in freedom. And freedom means we exchange goods, services, and currency in voluntary transactions. The employee and the employer should be the sole determiners of what services the employee will provide to the employer, and what compensation the employer will provide in exchange for said services. Now, if employees want to negotiate collectively, and the employer agrees to do that, then that is still a voluntary action and serves freedom. Of course, if the employer doesn't want to negotiate collectively, that is also freedom.

Oh... the stuff you posted isn't an indictment of business and capitalism, it is an indictment of people who have no financial self control and who live for today, instead of for the future.

They are not robbing and exploiting. They are trading products for consumer's money in a mutually agreeable exchange. If Americans had a problem with these guys, then we can quit using their products. It is very likely that you have freely traded your money for their products. We, the consumer, are responsible for making those people rich. We, the consumer, can also stop buying their products if we have an issue with rich people. The fact that we continue making them richer each day proves that the complaining is nothing but words.

The future projection used in that "in 33 years" stat is incorrect as it assumes that wealth is a zero sum game. Plenty of people are growing their wealth, not just the rich people. Anyone with a decent skill set and a frugal mind can grow wealth too. And the only way that the rich guys are going to get that wealth is if we voluntarily give it to them. Intelligent people grow their wealth just as the rich do. Others do nothing except feel they are entitled to other people's wealth and whine about the evil rich.

Perot predicted this because offshoring a value added economy makes your stats inevitable.

Perot wasn't an isolationist, he just wasn't willing to gut our workers to just enrich the already rich by not having an economy that helps workers..

The core problem is the capitalist business model, not any personal failings. Maximizing profits means keeping labor costs low.

“Nearly fifty years of increasing focus on shareholder payments has cost American workers the chance to do well when corporations do well. The misguided assumption that corporate prosperity should benefit only shareholders has hurt the ability of employees to bargain for a share of that prosperity — which they help create — and held back a growing economy.

What exactly are "eviction courts"? Wait, don't tell me, I'll guess. A new and exciting imaginary phenomenon rapidly developing in the conspiracy world of US haters.

    https://www.civillawselfhelpcenter....ion-for-landlords/87-filing-a-formal-eviction

Justice courts or district courts. No mention of eviction courts. Odd, huh?

Feel free to post a list of eviction courts in the US, if such exist. I'm not holding my breath.

Before I read the op, I was understandably wary of a thread starting with a title about people chaining themselves to places that don't exist. The wariness stubbornly stood its ground while perusing the videos posted. Jimmy Dore is a comedian, the supposedly funny opinions in his show are not world news.

Some people going out in New Orleans to protest government policies do not a National Nightmare make. It's simply democracy in action, citizens demanding their rights. I'd be worried if such protests couldn't take place, that would be a National Nightmare indeed.

Top dems are against relief checks to Americans.

Top dems are truly to blame.

    Biden is being highly divisive!

Dems are stabbing people in the front!!!

You certainly believe in your own "freedom".....

Is that it? Is that what life is all about? I would have thought the basis - but not the end - of freedom is economic security.

Life is so much more than a relationship between an employer and an employee.

With a bit of luck, this pandemic will bring the whole stinking mess of neoliberal privately financed capitalism to its knees. Meanwhile the juggernaut of China's state financed capitalism will continue to surge ahead, by subsidising the health, education and housing costs of citizens.

It's good you believe in freedom.

Do you also believe in human dignity and humanity itself? Do you believe in fairness or justice? Do you ever experience empathy or sympathy?

Do you think it wise to secure the blessings of liberty? Should we try to insure domestic tranquility or establish justice?

    Lawrence O'Donnell explains.

Beyond that, I'm not a Democrat. It's a capitalist party of the ruling class. It cannot be reformed. The more lefties we send there are just more subordinates for Pelosi and Schumer.

I was homeless for about three weeks when I was in my late twenties. I had a rock for a pillow and a tee shirt to put my arms into when the night chill hit. Fortunately for me it didn't rain and it wasn't cold. Still, as I laid there and watched the constellations go by, I made myself a promise that I would never allow that to happen again. I expected no help and got none. I have never been homeless since.

Sure he did, what makes you think that the leaders in the US give a shat about anyone but their donor classes that rule he govt. and the actions of those in gov.? The Corporations own the US and we are never getting it back if all we can do is ask nicely which is why there are protests and rioting...But hey, at least those with wealth and power can live safe and easy lives all thanks to our system of govt. and the adoration of coroprations and the almighty dollar...Be a good capitalist and go in debt for a CEO today so that CEO can live a life of luxury while you struggle to live.

I generally support capitalism as a conceptual model for economic growth, however this is not the case for United States of America.
    There are several issues.
    1. Monopolies and oligopolies are allowed and not taxed properly.
    2. Corruption (lobbying) is legal.
    3. Commercial and investment banking are not separated.
    4. Power of government for private corporations and cartels e.g. Health Care industry.
