No, as I said, it is because he is at significantly greater risk because of his job. It's a bit like military sites generally having more security than civilian ones.

The US President has greater security than you're legally permitted to as well. You might be able to hire armed guards if you wanted but there are plenty of other security steps that are only options for certain people (closing roads, screening people they'll interact with, preventing people from entering normally public areas or, ironically, prohibiting guns from places they'd normally be permitted).

 

That's the answer people always give when you ask them why they have been disarmed by the same people who felt no reason to give up their armed protection.

I don't care how high the perceived risk is everyone should be entitled to defend themselves with the best tool possible.

In the moment where a gun could help you to successfully defend yourself you are 100% at risk and vulnerable without it.

Just because they have a government job doesn't mean their life is worth more than yours or your families.

But, I can carry a semi-automatic pistol with a 16 round magazine for self defense. While I'm not as as high a risk, I'm not at a zero risk and zero is exactly how many guns the anti-gunners want me to have and zero is the exact amount of protection you have.
