Yeah but the Israelis are modern people, not medieval fundamentalist terror-festering Saudi Arabia. The Israelis have democracy , the Saudis have a king and oppressive Sharia based monarchy. Arabs elect and are elected in Israel, not in the medieval kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

They certainly do not have to die for me. If I choose to live amongst Jews in a Jewish community, there's enough of them in the city I live in. I have had many up close and personal encounters with Sephardic Jews and with the exception of a few, I find them obnoxious and arrogant. That being said, narcissism, self-righteousness, etc., etc. etc., has zero to do with my feelings about the karmic imbalance of living in a place that has such hatred and controversy focused on it 24/7 as that would never feel like a safe haven in my book.

 

It's their decision to die for you, not yours.... and I am happy you are perfectly safe in your city... so were the Jews in Spain before the inquisition and in Germany before the Holocaust. The quotes you supplied in your link from the Bible talk about some of those exiles as punishments on the Israelites, the author always mentions redemption, its never just fury and annihalation alone, some Jews belive that they need to live in disgrace and shame - they can do as they please just like wierd monks that beat themselves I suppose but the majurity of Jews dont follow that line.

Now Zionism being opposed by some Jews BECAUSE of the Bible and the Messiah part do so for one reason, because Israel is a secular state and the Messiah is supposed to bring all Jews to the Torah - which is cool by me - when he comes....
The Bible does not say the kingdom or state will only be created when the Messiah comes, it seperates the arrival of the king and the gathering of the ppl to 2 seperate actions, in Deuteronomy and Ezekiel teh act of bringing the nation back together preceeds the arrival of the King, when the king comes the Temple will be rebuilt and there will be peace, some say war preceds that.

So Israel state does not contredict the Bible, the state is merely the phase of Jews returning to their land and it can take a 100 years for all we know, it can be viewed as the begining of the prophesied salvation - if you belive in such things.
