Just for the fun of it, someone in Vegas should produce an exact copy of the Colossus of Rhodes.

I think the greeks themselves could do it. I mean if they can just pull their (*)(*)(*)(*) together it's not big money to build a giant bronze statue if you compare it to a country budget. And fancy the tourism!

Hmm... Frankly, to me, that sounds good and like an investment.

I mean, come on... if they're not going to do it, what is the harm of a Swedish-Canadian partnership rebuilding it to create jobs for Rhodesians handling all the tourists... I'm just saying.

It's 80% the height of the French-built Statue of Liberty (one of two being parked in the USA looking into the eyes of the other in France), so it's well within19th century metalurgical skill-set, so it would boil down to the cost of bronze, and brobably figuring out how to bribe officials in Rhodes once they pull their brains together enough to realize it can make money.

oh, I'm always up for investing in other counties. I'm actually suprised that the greeks haven't rebuilt it already though. It's not that expensive, would be a tourist trap, and didn't they have a good economy a while back?

You do understand that a 30m high statue will block the port since cruise ships are now huge.
Also modern city is known for the deer statues

The Colossus was made to intimidate since Rhodians made money by hunting down and exterminating pirates , it has no purpose to make a 30m tall statue .
It would be far better if the Cretans remade the Talos robot .
I am not from the Dodecanese .

So while you enter the port you can see the buttocks of the statue ?
Rhodians and residents of Kusadasi are making money by transferring people between the two cities and offering scuba diving right over the border , i don't see why they have to be rude to each other.
