The tensions that exist between police and black communities is not one sided. Defensiveness of the police is not in a vacuum. They didn't suddenly get jaded and trigger happy as a defense mechanism simply because people have black skin. That's the BS.

Cops that work the ghetto neighborhoods day in and day out are constantly under attack, deal with people that don't respect their authority, etc. It wears people down.

I have several friends that are Chicago PD, and they literally hate the job. The citizens don't respect them, the government undermines them, and suddenly they are not only blamed for ongoing crime issues, but now are being blamed for being criminals. What a thankless shitty job.

But you go on pretending its fricken Mayberry in the hood and the police are the issue. You are just lying to yourself.

I have two black daughters, adopted from the hood. We spend a lot of time there with their family. I lived in Chicago, in the hood, for 10 years.

Easily disproved either way, in that Africans (as in, migrants) and Indians don't attract the same unwanted attention from the PoPo, in the same areas. Nothing AT ALL to do with skin.

Cops are trained to respond to anti-social behavioural cues. Behave in ways which don't trigger that response, and you won't be the focus of their attention .. whether you're as black as the ace of spades (and plenty of Africans and Indians are), or a poor white boy.

 

Exactly right. Policing is reactive, not active. If while driving you’ obey the laws, you won’t be pulled over.

Not quite this simple with people, of course, but the principle the same.
