New York special election - Another Win for Democrats

Removing Santos was a dumb political move, but he was corrupt. As a reformer Democrat, I would think you would be supportive of that. Of course the whole situation worked out perfectly for you.

 

Yea right. 5,000 illegals could enter the country every day before the border could be closed. That would have tied the hands of subsequent presidents.

Further more, we would have had to depend on the Biden administration to enforce the law. Since they are bunch of liars on the immigration issue, the trust factor is zero. The Biden puppet can do whatever it wants with its open border.

 

You and I , who spend every day debating politics, we know the difference 5000 migrant or Biden lied or Trump was good for border security , etc , etc , etc. we can debate next 10 months and our mind will not change. You will vote for Trump and I will vote for Biden.

But here is the problem with your argument- the people who only spend 3 months to 3 weeks to decide which candidate to vote, they wouldn’t spend time on “ why allow 5000 migrant” or “ Biden can’t be trusted”. They will see TV Ad by Biden campaign which show ‘Fox news footage of migrants/ drug dealer coming to America, and trump saying don’t make deal on border security and Blame me”. That Ad might be 100% wrong , but that Ad will work.

Republican lost the abortion issue. But until last week Republican had upper hand on immigration. They just handed the issue to DEMS.

 

The abortion issue is a self-inflicted wound. The religious fundamentalist Republicans will never give up on it, even if it means their political extinction. It's the one issue that really left me wondering about DiSantis.

It looks like the Democrats have one upped us again, according to you. An ineffective bill, that would have fixed nothing and would have tied the hands of future presidents, is rejected, and for that, you are rewarded. I blame old fools like Mitch McConnell. Like Biden, his mind is failing, and he needs to retire. Sadly that is not going to happen until he suffers a major medical event, like a stroke, or he passes on.

These old men and women simply refuse to face facts and retire for the good of the country.

 

In a representative democracy, it's up to his voters to decide if he is corrupt and should be removed. It shouldn't be upto to someone in California who can represent you in New York.

 

It's not a false dichotomy. It's basic reality. Just because you don't like the reality doesn't make it a false dichotomy. It's more of a true dichotomy.

If you'd like to break the true dichotomy, vote Democratic, because it's the Democrats who advocate for reform. However, I have a feeling you'll work to keep the present system in place.

Let’s say you are right and the bill does nothing. So what? Since when USA ever passed a “perfect bill”? We pass bills which are not perfect and then make changes and improve the bill overtime. If the bill was passed, at least Gop could say “ this is not a perfect bill , but we worked with DEMS and got something, elect more GOP and we will improve the bill”.

But problem with that, today’s MAGA don’t like compromise with DEMS.

On the other hand, the 5% independent who will decide which party control the WH, they want nothing but compromise and bipartisan bill.

 

Nobody is claiming you can't bask in your own lefty regurgitations.
Since democrats can't run on historical inflation, historical illegal invasion, historical gas prices, historical grocery prices, and the dementia pilot in office who the DOJ have claimed is too senile to prosecute, all they really have is wins in their own districts, like it has some meaning.

You only like McConnell here because he did what you wanted him to do. When he was facilitating the appointment of conservatives to the Supreme Court, you hated his guts.

As for the bill, it would have let in 5,000 illegals a day before the president could do anything. That is 1,825,000 illegals a year, forever, which is exactly what you Democrats want. That is crap, and no future president should be saddled with it.

 

I didn’t know a bill passed by congress can’t be changed? If Trump or another GOP became POTUS in future and GOP control the house and senate they could change the bill.

But I guess for you guys “perfect bill” or “ No Bill”.

By the way , I never liked Mitch. I don’t like him now. His support for this bill doesn’t change my opinion. As a matter of fact I am glad the bill failed. The bill didn’t have anything we DEMS wanted. But now at least DEMS can say we wanted to secure border but GOP don’t want it.
