First, it was the whole guerrilla-theater "kneeling" antic concocted to disgrace the National Anthem of the United States. And now 'wokesters' are going to project their power over professional sports in this country even further with this "Black National Anthem" tune to be performed at Super Bowl LVIII.

The bitter paradox of this kind of demonstration is that it further emphasizes just how divided and fractured we are as a nation -- and the 'DEI' (diversity, equity, inclusion) wokesters are even more energetic than ever in pushing this schism between the races instead of UNITY.

Blacks make up approximately 14% of the population of the U. S. Would they be happier if we just carved away 14% of the United States, gave it to them as a separate country (complete with its own "Black National Anthem"), and treated the new nation of "Black America" like we do any other foreign country? Is that what Blacks really want?! For the wokesters to command this kind of power in the NFL, it would certainly seem so....

 

Yes we are. Much more so after Trump brought white supremacists out of the closet and gave them a voice. But nothing has EVER been solved by acting as if it didn't exist. Kudos to the NFL!

In parallel with your feeling about the "Black National Anthem", would you think it appropriate that a large-scale attraction like the Super Bowl should be used as a vehicle to push other political 'agendas' -- for instance, would you approve of them playing "Fida'i", the Palestinian National Anthem, to promote 'in-your-face' recognition of their partisan interests...? Or, "Hatikvah", the national anthem of Israel, to promote sympathetic feelings in the audience for the Jewish state...?

Actually, though, wouldn't it really just be better to play our own NATIONAL ANTHEM OF THE UNITED STATES, or, just not play our national anthem at all? (America-hating Leftists would LOVE that! )

Afterthought: Considering what kind of mess the United States is in right now, maybe they should consider playing "Season of the Witch" by Donovan....

 

I agree that we have become particularly divided and fractured after the Trump debacle. I disagree that emphasizing that fact is a bad thing. Identifying a problem is an essential requisite to solving it.

Well, in our Constitution the establishment of a national religion is forbidden, but, this thread is about a special interest group thrusting itself into the public view on the same platform as our national anthem with what's supposed to be some kind of alternate, ancillary "Black National Anthem". If the NFL wants to allow that, and the network, obviously, will be glad to stage it, then that's their prerogative... just like it's mine to skip this low-brow leveraging of manufactured "White Supremacist" crimes, or whatever.

And you ask yourself, "What's the real motive? Constant agitation for 'reparations' because of imagined 'White guilt' dredged up from a 100 years ago?" There's always another reason why this kind of crap gets pushed on us....

This is an insane idea. Does this assume that blacks would only be loyal to a black anthem? I am confident that is not true. Then, if blacks are loyal to both a national anthem and a black anthem, then shouldn't there be an additional anthem for all of us. We could have a white anthem, a yellow anthem, a red anthem or maybe it should broke down by country of origin such as Irish, German, Italian, etc. We should really make this as extreme as possible. They should cancel the football game and have three hours of national anthem so that everyone is satisfied.

 

Well, I suppose we will continue to disagree about this at the most basic level -- nonetheless, congratulations to you on the victory of the Detroit Lions! I don't remember what you're talking about, but even if you're right, what we realize is that the NFL, the mainstream TV networks, and probably many more entities belong under 'woke' control. And the wokesters will keep control, until or unless the 'money boys' in the corporate towers start to suffer losses in income caused by the loss of fans and viewers... which may be never. Face it -- nobody gives a **** about the real National Anthem anymore....
