OMG no wonder this nation is heading into the socialist toilet. The lack of ability to discern the obvious is scary as hell. I mean you and your liberal cronies won't even see it coming when it all goes down. Curious, do you people ever have thoughts of your own or you just accept everything the dems feed you?

This is the most agreeable thing ever written on this forum. Bravo.

They're literally doing everything they can to open the borders while trying to eliminate border patrols from trying to keep invaders out.

Not that you'll need it but if you give me your location, I'll send you a fresh truckload of sand you can bury your head in.

Materialism is a problem along with monetary greed but this has been the same throughout history but I'll agree that with every generation it has been exasperated getting even worse as time goes on.

The problem is classical liberalism, it assumes that individuals are better at ruling themselves, are rational actors, and that living independently they'll naturally cooperate with others without concern of their own self interests first. I think what we're finding out in the post modern technological era where fierce competition is only increasing [not decreasing] is that this experiment of classical liberalism is an abysmal failure. Classical liberalism was always a myth and lie of the enlightenment era, the so called enlightenment era really wasn't all that enlightened.

There is only one way to control a directionless, chaotic, and ultimately self destructive mob of people where that is through sheer centralized force alone.

If people can't cooperate naturally for improvement or betterment of society and civilization willingly on their own they should be forced to do so.

It may seem unfair, cruel, or even harsh but at least we'll have stability, law and order, and social cohesion which is more than I can say in what we have presently.

And you feel that this "sheer centralized force" will never get greedy? Or too powerful? That's putting a lot of faith into something that goes directly against human nature and has never really existed.

There are plenty examples of high functioning monarchies or autocracies.

Please remember this, autocratic monarchy existed for thousands upon thousands of years where democracy is merely a small blimp of history concerning experimentation.

Democracy will fail and destroy itself just as it did with ancient Athens along with everywhere else.

Today, Russia is a Kleptocracy, run by a Mafia. This, thanks to all of it's assets being up for grabs with the fall of the Soviet Union. Naturally, the meanest and connected grabbed it up first. Putin is among them.

The United States is going in the same direction, thanks to the cabal Trump has put in place. Is Putin taking us over from the inside? No proof yet, maybe it makes no difference.

One thing history has shown is that all Fascist regimes of the 20th century were basically Kleptocracies. Government by outright theft at the point of a gun, nothing like the taxes paid in liberal democracies (that the Right moans about all the time). Property confiscated by the German Nazis is still being tracked down.

Well, they’ll have to fire at least a few shots, unless they’re just going to stand there and let me shoot them. And my dozens of other well armed friends. Good luck, any potential invaders, you’ll need it.

And, as history reveals. these monarchies were in constant battle with each other. Meanwhile the democracies have got along quite well.

But you're right that democracy is rather new but it is a system, however fragile, that works quite well. The US has been going strong for 240 years while Asian, African, and European nations have changed and altered their borders and political systems several times over. A few European countries have a monarchy but they serve only as symbols, like a flag, but have no genuine power. And after listening to Prince Charles 2009 predicting in 2009 that the world will end last year I'm rather pleased about that.

This peace won't last long, world war is on the horizon and everybody knows it.

Pax Romana didn't last very long either in comparison and neither will the neo liberal democratic version.

As the great writer Niccolo Machiavelli once said, once democracies collapse on themselves after a stretch of chaos or upheaval from that collapse autocracies re-emerge.

Democracies usually require stability and a prolonged period of peace to persist.

We debate the things that will ultimately lead to and safeguard that stability and peace.

What happens to that world when that one superpower is removed from the equation, or ceases to be relevant?

I've read opinions that one of the reasons India doesn't show expansionist policies is because their focus is all turned inward, struggling to meet the needs of their own people, and keeping the country, with its diverse ethnic cultures and distinct geographic regions together.

He's talking about the United States because the old timers haven't figured it out yet that the United States standing in the world has changed the last thirty years.

They haven't figured out yet that there is a different international dynamic now.

They still think we're number one like the good old days where the United States ruled the world unchallenged with little or no dissension from anybody else.
