Afghanistan is but one battle in the War on Terror. And it is a war, ever since the UN gave the PLO observer status as a reward for their despicable acts of violence. What we have here is a group of people (including state actors) willing to attack us when they disagree with a particular policy they don't like (such as housing tens of thousands of US troops in The Land of the Two Holy Mosques for a decade). But it goes beyond policy to attacks on our way of life (Charlie Hebdo). It's most definitely a war, that began long ago. Sadly, I think we will see that the next time these people coalesce over an issue they don't like, and slaughter an Olympic team, blow up some transport vehicles, or knock down some buildings...

Bush did. Bush did it by paying, arming and urging the natives of Afghanistan to remove their oppressors. They did it very fast.

 

The only winning move for whom? The folks that are now going to get hunted down and killed? The folks who will be subjugated back into the stone age? You have a remarkable sense of winning.

I know for a fact that Franks used the natives of Afghanistan in the ground combat. And it worked. Franks had 1000 American men. Seriously do you think 1000 spotters is all it took to beat the Taliban? Biden should not have used a thing from Trump but used the lessons learned from Bush.

 

It is not a lie. Franks requested from Bush a message that the mission was over. So it was placed on the Aircraft carrier as Bush mentioned. We had no way to evacuate all the Afghanis used to defeat the Taliban. They wanted to keep living in the area they won.
Again the message on the ship came when we beat Saddam.

The President and his team are doing a great job unwinding this 20 year clusterf*ck started by Cheney/Bush.

 

If the troops are still there fighting and dying in Afghanistan, then the war is by definition, not over! Bush did not win that war, or the troops would be home and the casualties, the destruction etc would not have continued to rise for the next 15 years. Obama, Trump and Biden would not have had to keep fighting, had Bush won the war.
