I went to Nikki Haley's campaign website (nikkihaley.com) yesterday looking to find out exactly what she stands for, but when I went to her website, all I found were links to merchandise, Nothing about policy or political positions that Nikki Haley might have. I know that Nikki Haley has speaking events where she presumably talks about her positions and policies, but I haven't listened to any of those, so I have no clue. This is something I find a lot on Republican campaign websites. They get straight down to selling trinkets, Not discussing anything of importance. Why is this always the case? Why?
Okay, I got an email from Nikki Haley's campaign team about this and a page of policy positions. I'm going to go through them one at a time. There are ten positions listed. Position 1 of 10: Stop Inflation and Cut Spending: The only way to stop inflation is to get Washington spending under control. Nikki will veto spending that doesn’t put America on track to reach pre-pandemic spending levels and will stop the stream of wasteful spending.End Position. This will either become painful cuts to government spending or an endless fight with Congress, depending on which party gets elected where. Position 2 of 10: Secure the Border: Fire Joe Biden’s new IRS agents and recruit and hire 25,000 new Border Patrol and ICE workers to stop the flow of drugs and illegal immigration. Institute a national E-Verify program — like Nikki did as South Carolina’s governor. Defund sanctuary cities and end taxpayer-funded handouts to illegal immigrants. Restart Remain in Mexico and Title 42. End catch-and-release and start catch-and-deport.End Position. What worries me here is that Republicans are always cutting the government's funding and making the budget situation worse. And, let's not forget that the Republicans are showing that they are in the pockets of tax cheats. I don't know what that has to do with the border, though. Also, a lot of sanctuary cities have become held hostage by higher-ups at the sanctuary state level, and they aren't currently being given financial aid to help support the new immigrant populations that are showing up at their door. Reform Washington: Hold our politicians accountable by enacting term limits for members of Congress and calling for mental competency tests for politicians age 75 and over.End Position. I have nothing to say, really, because it is what it is. Although it might come across as ageist. People who have been here longer have more experience with the way the world works. I know when I was younger I looked down on people who were old. Position 4 of 10. Fight for Life: Nikki’s goal is to save as many babies and help as many moms as possible. Both the states and the federal government have a role to play. At the federal level we need to find national consensus if we want to get anything through Congress. We can start by ending late-term abortions, giving pregnant women resources and support, making adoption easier, and protecting religious freedom.End Position Typical Republican boilerplate. It's interesting that the Republicans are doubling down on the abortion issue, considering that they might be at a weak point with the American voter since the Supreme Court struck down Row v Wade from Trump-appointed judges. Continuing from the previous post. Position 5 of 10: Aid Ukraine: Opposing Russia in Ukraine is a vital American national strategic interest. We should not send American troops or cash, but we should work with our European allies to provide conventional weapons to Ukraine.End Position. Now this is refreshing, a Republican who supports Ukraine aid. Most Republicans (in the House) want to stop aid to Ukraine and have stalled on this. Position 6 of 10: Stand Up for Veterans: Hold the VA accountable by requiring Congress to get their healthcare from the VA. We must reduce wait times, allow veterans to see the doctor of their choice, prioritize mental healthcare, and end wokeness in the military.End Position. There's a lot going on here. Having Congress get healthcare from the VA is silly. However, helping veterans get increased healthcare and healthcare from their provider of choice is a good goal. Ending wokeness in the military is a hollow goal and I don't care for it. Continues in next post...
Continuing from the previous post. Position 7 of 10: Cut Foreign Aid: Stop giving U.S. aid to anti-American countries.End Position. I'm sorry, is the USA giving aid to anti-American countries rather than having sanctions applied? Position 8 of 10: Save Social Security and Medicare: Nikki will not take anything away from anyone who has paid into the system and is nearing retirement, but we must make changes for the younger generation to save the programs from bankruptcy.End Position. Save SS and Medicare is a good line, but the rest of it shows that Nikki Haley is one of the Republicans out to sabotage these programs so that they can get rid of them. My understanding is that these programs are either temporarily out of cash due to the larger than normal baby boomer generation, or that there aren't enough workers to pay for current benefits. Anyway, it's also my understanding that SS benefits will be there for everyone as long as we don't have administrations actively trying to sabotage them. Continues in next post...
Continuing from the previous post. Position 9 of 10: Unleash America Energy: Empower American oil and gas producers to produce more. Speed up permitting and building interstate pipelines. Roll back Biden’s wasteful green energy subsidies and his environmental regulations.End Position. Nikki Haley's campaign shows it's clueless about the energy issue. We've established that the green new era in energy is to take power from renewable resources. There's only so much oil and gas to take from the Earth before it runs out. Meanwhile, Nuclear Fusion is making steps every day, inching closer to reality, and the energy issue could be solved any day now. Position 10 of 10: Education: Grant universal school choice and empower parents.End Position. Ah, education. While school choice is important, the school unions are keeping freedom away from parents. But, what about higher education? Is there anything about grants and student loans in there? They should have a policy about that as far as education goes.
To be fair, by cutting foreign aid, I think she means not sending billions to places like Iran so that they can turn around and wage war against Israel through proxy groups. I don't see that as a mixup with aiding Ukraine.
At the moment, Haley stays in the race just in case for Trump's disqualification from the presidential election. The Supreme Court would side with Trump but his legal issues may prevent him from running again. If Trump is disqualified, Haley will challenge Biden. She is currently leading Biden by 5%, 45.0% to 40.1%.
Nikki stays in this race to gain credibility. Kamala will finish Bidens next term, and she will run in 2028. Nikki will them be an automatic front runner in that election.
When a political leader refuses to speak their mind openly...... they are usually in BIG TROUBLE! Back in 2009 I heard Mr. Michael Ignatieff make an intriguing statement...... he stated that Prime Minister Stephen Harper had tabled a "relatively Liberal budget!" I really liked the idea of giving credit across political lines so I joined his Liberal Party BUT...... .... soon I noticed that he would NOT write what he was thinking and he gave the reason that if he did so then Prime Minister Stephen Harper would have time to prepare a response to his plans....... ..... so.......... Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff FEARed PRIME MINISTER STEPHEN HARPER so much that he would not trust members of his own Liberal Party with critical information about what his plans were..... ..... so I pretty much knew that the Liberal party was in BIG TROUBLE... and sure enough.... in the next Canadian federal election Canada's Liberal Party was reduced to a lower number of federal level M. P. seats than had happened in decades! Now this is an impressive theory indeed...... Nikki is going for the long game plan........ You could certainly be correct that that could be her real goal!
