The ongoing chess match has now seen china and Russia sign their own "pact" to deal with the Peninsula situation.
Both bordering countries, neighbours to the renegade NK object to is the non regional force of the USA having such heavy presence in the first place. Focussing on this for one moment...clearly other countries are fed up with the extent that the USA and Nato tenticles spread. It must be annoying however when countries like South Korea, who have enjoyed the fruits of such protection from Washington, for decades, to express abrasiveness of such western presence.
Following the Putin/xi meet and greet would it be too much loss of face for Trump to pull back and draw a new red line? Remove all missile defenses from SK and uniformed military members to relocate them to Japan. The new red line would include immediate retaliation for any missile lauches by NK. Such new approach by the USA could find a new agreement with the three- China Russia and USA.
It would leave SK to its own border defense, arguably what should have happened in the 1960's. US would get respect all over...but lose some face.
Its a radical idea. Anything is worth consideration especially if it appeases those two superpowers that have a right to be more than annoyed with the growing spread of US global creep.
Yes, US protection for allies can be great but not if its allies dont appreciate it 100%.

Maybe Trump could try talking to them. But then, he can't even talk to our allies - Mexico, Australia, Germany, and Great Britain - so probably not a good idea.

With respect one of the things ruining this forum is the anti Trump anti left never ending debate. Its tiring. How about some ideas away from that?

I think, America is already here in Asia, moving forward they should remain because likely the plan Russia and China have will only have affect with the American presence in Asia (Jong Un's motivation). So status quo for now I believe and let's see what the Chinese and Russians propose.

If America pulled out of Asia (as you suggested) it would only mean billions wasted nothing gained, no leverage for any plan.

Yes, thats most relevant, leaving would cause an imbalance. Annd waiting to see what the other big boys do could (sic) produce a tolerable result.
I read the SK people dont warm to USA's presence. ...if they werent there they'd be less cimfortable IMO.

South Korea is being placed under pressure by China in the form of sanctions. 25% of their exports go to China, also Chinese travel to South Korea have been boycotted, all due to Thaad. They've lost billions, if it weren't for sanctions I don't think South Koreans would have had a problem with American presence.
