Well, that should come as a relief to Biden. Now all he has to worry about is RFKjr, and Trump should worry some about him, as well. Ya think?

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4575052-no-labels-party-passes-2024-election-candidate/

The bipartisan group No Labels won’t put forward a third-party presidential ticket after failing to find a candidate.

“Today, No Labels is ending our effort to put forth a Unity ticket in the 2024 presidential election,” the group said in a release Thursday.

“No Labels has always said we would only offer our ballot line to a ticket if we could identify candidates with a credible path to winning the White House. No such candidates emerged, so the responsible course of action is for us to stand down.”

I had had high hopes for No Labels a while back but you ain't gonna win if you have to run no names. They made a wise choice since everyone was turning them down, even the no names. They need to regroup and run some top tier candidates in the future. The country actually needs a unity ticket. I think Manchin dropped out because he was only polling at 5%. He had been their best shot.

No surprise, honestly... 3rd-party tickets in the United States never amount to more than 'ass-wipe' if you want to know the truth.... Look at both of Ross Perot's campaigns in the 1990's!

They're delusional if they think they'd ever find one. Our system is structurally set up to be a 2-party system. We would have to do ranked voting, or the like, to change that.

Hey you, yes you, the one who's reading this message: why weren't you on the No Labels presidential ticket this year? The idea goes that there's a million of us and certainly someone among us should be able to run for office and be qualified to do so.

Not a surprise with Joe Lieberman dead.

Honestly I never saw how a third party ticket with NO platform was ever going to work. In the recent era, the third party that came closest was Ross Perot, but that's because he was an interesting character who actually had a substantial agenda that appealed to a large group of Americans. No Labels? They were running on a moderation so moderate they couldn't even decide what they were moderate about. Who was the No Label voter?

I hate that this country doesn’t have a viable third party but I hate even more that we have a political party that has to use planted and funded candidates to manipulate elections in order to win.

Let’s devolve that corrupt fraudulent party and replace it with three new ones

The bicameral system is conducive to a two party system, that's why there will never be strong third parties.

There are several parties, it's just that the only parties with with a large enough caucus to get anything done are repubs and dems.

This is very sad news. A centrist party option is desperately needed, but perhaps we've run all the centrists out of politics at this point with all of the tribalist moronic bullshit that's been going on in both camps.

Thanks MAGA and progressives, your childish incessant fighting for attention and praise are slowly destroying this country.

RFK will definitely take votes from both of them. IMO no labels didn't make it because they made the message about what they DON'T want instead of something positive. They should have just went with "independent party" like RFK is doing.

No labels were serious about challenging the two major party monopoly they have on our electoral system. They had achieved ballot access in at least 14 states that I know of, worth 123 electoral college votes: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, South Dakota, and Utah.

The problem was that no labels were counting on a recognized pair of candidates. Like Manchin, Romney or Hogan. They even tempted my governor, Brian Kemp to be their nominee for president. All turned them down. Running an unknown probably was anathema to what they had planned and wanted to do.

You still have 64% of all Americans who want another choice other than just Trump and Biden. You still have two very unpopular, disliked, unwanted to become the next president major party candidates. That leaves RFK Jr. as a possible alternative. The question there is how many state ballots can RFK Jr. get on? As to who RFK Jr. would hurt the most, that is still up in the air. Trump has a 1.1-point lead in a two-candidate race where the only choices were only Trump or Biden. Trump has a 2.3-point lead in a five-candidate race. Considering the MOE of plus or minus 3 points, there’s no significant difference.

    https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/trump-vs-biden

    https://www.realclearpolling.com/po...24/trump-vs-biden-vs-kennedy-vs-west-vs-stein

The big question, the big worry in my opinion isn’t the third-party vote or RFK Jr. playing spoiler to either Trump or Biden. It’s voter turnout in an election where both major party candidates are disliked and unwanted by most of America. Will those voters who didn’t turnout in 2016 due to the disliked and unwantedness of both major party candidates, who turned out in 2020 basically to vote against Trump, do so again in 2024 when both Trump and Biden are disliked and unwanted equally. Early indications are that they won’t which could be big to Biden’s chances. Which would also explain the basic tie Biden is in with Trump. They’re not interested in voting in another presidential contest between two disliked and unwanted major party candidates. Which could be huge for Biden since he won those voters who didn’t vote in 2016 but did in 2020 by a 64-32 margin over Trump. If they don’t vote again, ALA 2016, that benefits Trump by addition by subtraction from Biden.

RFK will "Take votes from Both"...
BUT, the votes will come OVERWHELMINGLY from Biden...
Event: Kennedy's Vote is 90% Biden Voters and 10% Trump Voters...
MAGA Take: "RFK took votes from Both"...

They are going to vote, and I'll tell you why. Abortion is a ballot initiative in many states, so who might not have voted will vote and once in the ballot box, they'll cast their vote up and down the ballot.

Also, If Trump is convicted, many who were going to vote for Trump said they won't.

Also, Trump is having financial problems, legal problems. That makes him popular with his base, but he's not adding on, not that I can tell.

Also, RNC is in chaos, DNC is will funded and organized with offices landed on the ground running. The tide is turning, in Biden's favor.

Yeah, they want a choice, but two incumbents who have a right to take the nomination, are not giving up their slot.

So, we we are stuck. And there is RFKjr, conspiracy theorist whom some on the Trump camp I'm sure will love. once his positions are well known, I doubt any dems will vote for him. Some wishy washy independents might.

The way to a third party is not to look for a Presidential candidate. Start small... Start with local races, make a name for yourself, and THEN start asking for votes in higher places. But @Lil Mike is right, you need a PLATFORM to run on. That's where it all starts. "I hate the two major parties equally" is not going to work as an Ideological framework.

We’ll see. As you stated, a lot can happened to change today’s indications. I doubt they will all go in the democrats favor though as you expect. One thing I keep track of is the enthusiasm voting for the president. Today we have 42% of all Americans who are enthusiastic, 42% who aren’t. I added extreme and very enthusiastic together to come out with enthusiastic, not too enthusiastic and not at all enthusiastic to come out with those who aren’t enthusiastic. The key here is independents who went for Biden in 2020 by a 54-41 margin over Trump who made up 30% of those who voted. Independents only, 24% are enthusiastic about voting for the presidency, 67% aren’t enthusiastic at all.

    https://d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.net/documents/econTabReport_5VGK6NY.pdf

Among all Americans 40% have a favorable or positive view of Biden, 55% negative or unfavorable. 42% of all Americans view Trump positively or favorably, 54% negatively or unfavorably. Independents only, 35% of independents today have a favorable view of Biden, 62% view him unfavorably. 38% of independents view Trump favorably, 58% unfavorably.

    https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/favorability/donald-trump

Plenty of time for all of this to change. But for the last year, these stats have been within a couple of points either up or down. If no significant change has occurred over that time, I doubt it will. However, I do agree a conviction and prison sentence for Trump would change these numbers definitely in Biden’s favor.

lol…nonsense, Perot never won a single electoral vote in either election while Wallace won over 45 electoral votes in 68.

I had forgotten about Wallace. So maybe that's the candidate that No Labels needs, a George Wallace-like candidate.

Wallace was a vicious demagogue who labelled everyone who opposed his racist agenda as scum.

Maybe the problem here is that the constitutional definition of being 'qualified' for our highest office, does not meet any practical and realistic standard of same. That shrinks your number considerably. What shrinks it even more is that of those who could actually perform the duties credibly, almost none of them are remotely electable.

Wallace spoke at my University in probably the Spring of '64. I had a front row seat. He was a dynamic speaker, and much of what he said was quite reasonable.

Aside from the segregationist aspects, most of Wallace's populist views would sit well with MAGA republicans.

In today's environment, a speaker such as Wallace could not speak at the university in a Northern, liberal state with only minor student demonstrations.
