True American conservatives would not allow a right as high on the list as the 2nd Amendment to be infringed upon. Nixon, Regan and Bush 1 should not have allowed this to happen on their watch, but they did.

If you are an old guy, look at the murder rate at any given large city before the mid-1960's. Why did crime go up 350% after that? Why didn't the gun control act of 1968 or all the other gun laws return crime back to the old rates?

Felons in most violent hell-holes like Chicago, Atlanta, and Detroit have very low conviction rates. You squawk at what you perceive as too many criminals being locked-up. Why should the bad people who live in these areas care? Most criminals are placed right back on the streets after most crimes. Conviction rates are less than 60% for most of these cities---and unsolved murder rates are about the same. Criminals do the crimes most of the time because they think they will get away with it.

Now WWFFD? What would the Founding Fathers do? What happened to bad people 200 years ago? Did they get short comfortable prison cells and the ability to form racist gangs to sell drugs and kill other inmates?

"Cruel and Ununsual Punishment" allows for chain gangs, corporal punishment and the death penalty for convicts. Due process is not allowing appeals to last 15 years or more. Liberals just like you are directy to blame for the high crime rates we have today.

You are right that too many people don't understand that the original constitution is horribly outdated and that there is no longer a threat of tyranny. As with most other developed nations, the citizens don't need guns; they need votes and independent courts.

The Second Amendment has been abused to the point where the US has a shocking number of guns and gun deaths each year. Guns do more harm than good in the general public and tighter regulations are needed. The US and Yemen are the only two countries with constitutionally protected gun ownership. It's time to make a change.

No. The Constitution was good for its time. But society has changed drastically. Speech, assembly and gun restrictions have been imposed in the past 100 years because the outdated Constitution is being exploited and abused. It's time for a reboot.
