It's something we all need to know. But there will still be those that don't and won't follow the rules. Simple as that.
This subordinate employee? "Another woman who worked for Gov. Andrew Cuomo is describing conduct she felt was inappropriate for the workplace. Ana Liss, 35, told The Wall Street Journal in a story published Saturday that when she worked as a policy aide to the governor between 2013 and 2015, Cuomo called her "sweetheart," once kissed her hand and asked personal questions, including whether she had a boyfriend. She said he sometimes greeted her with a hug and a kiss on both cheeks. Liss – who currently serves as the director of planning and development for Monroe County – told the Journal she initially thought of Cuomo's behavior as harmless, but it grew to bother her. She felt it was patronizing. "It's not appropriate, really, in any setting," she said. "I wish that he took me seriously."" https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...propriate-conduct-another-ex-aide/4617723001/ Yea, not appropriate and with a subordinate employee yes sexual harassment could be claimed, I'm sure it will be further investigated now.
Trump is still the leader of the Republican Party. We've killed people at more than 2.5 times the rate Canadians are dying from covid. That's 300,000 people. Dead. How did this happen?
No, I didn't, they just do it. Like Cuomo accusers, I reserve the right to whine about it years later and accuse them of sexually harassing me. All I have to say is that they did it, and it made me feel uncomfortable. Of course that kind of thing is not my cup of tea, but that is the world we live in these days.
If Cuomo's accusers can come with evidence and I mean physical evidence like Pictures of perhaps videotape that could prove that Cuomo is guilty that he's accused of, then I would want Cuomo kicked out of office and it would depend how severe this is to maybe put Cuomo in jail but that won't happen I would think. As we all should know that Pictures (negatives) and videotapes don't lie.
We don't live in a world where it's polite to kiss someone without invitation and consent. Why are you not protecting your boundaries if it's something that makes you feel uncomfortable? Nevertheless, it's flippant for you to say that you "reserve the right to whine about it years later and accuse them of sexual harassment".
Not specifically singling out Cuomo here - In general, these kind of people get away with it because they know how to hide in plain sight. Nobody is going to do that stuff on camera or allow pictures to be taken. It's inappropriate behavior and the only reason these women are being "heard" now is because he name is linked to the nursing home scandal. Otherwise, they'd be like the millions of women (and men) who've been victimized by powerful managers - completely ignored.
It's inappropriate but not sexual harassment, unlike Trump's behaviour who had one accuser saying that Trump actually did grope her genitals at a meeting because "they let you do it"
Yes, we do. Half the world finds it customary to kiss each other on the cheek or on the hand (that includes millions in US), and the other half don't do it, and now there are people who are offended by being touched in any way shape or form. The people who are offended are an interesting bunch, because it seems it can take years for them to realize they are offended. Best example is the woman who was kissed on the hand by Cuomo some years ago, and all of a sudden she comes forward to say she is offended by it. They call is "sexual harassment" even thought there is nothing sexual about it. Is kissing your daughter on the forehead a sex act? Of course not, but that would not stop a woman from accusing her father of sexually harassing her 20 years ago. Why would she do that? Because she is motivated to hurt him for whatever reason. In the other hand Trump grabbing women by the crotch IS a text book example of sexual harassment, and even goes further than that (sexual assault). Then my point flew over your head.
No one knows if Cuomo's accusers tried to speak up prior to the nursing home scandal. They very well may have and were ignored because he is so powerful. So, it could be they are just now getting heard. Therefore, it's unfair to say they are just now "getting offended". Again, you minimize what these women have experienced through a lens of privilege of living in a world where you are relatively safe from sexual harassment.
Or maybe its because a kiss on the hand was not considered a sex act / sexual harassment until now. Just.......maybe. Lets be honest, - a kiss on the hand was considered something gentlemen would do to honor a women. Lets look at what is USED TO mean: Hand-kissing is a gesture indicating courtesy, politeness, respect, admiration or even devotion by one person toward another. Wait, is this evidence of the French president sexually harassing the US first lady. Why didn't the secret service stop the assault? Why didn't Trump do something?
It has been expanded to include hand kissing, which is why pretty much anything can be classified as sexual harassment, even if the hand kissing incident happened years ago. That's the world we live in. What's next? Not sure, but a look in someone's eyes, or god forbid, - the rear or the bust, could be next. Not sure if looking at someone in a Zoom meeting will count, but who knows.....someone might claim it made them feel uncomfortable.
Your attitude is exactly why so many women (and some men) are victimized and silenced in the workplace.
You have to think whether they can get Cuomo on some nursing home scandal or what other than sexual harassment.
I think the "Get Cuomo" campaign will succeed, and it will be a hailed as a massive PC victory. Hand-kiss survivors will count the money and dance on the streets.
being called "sweetheart," is not sexual harassment Once kissed her hand is not sexual harassment Asked personal questions, including whether she had a boyfriend is not sexual harassment Being greeted with a hug and a kiss on both cheeks is inappropriate but not sexual harassment Feeling patronized is not sexual harassment It's cases like these that trivialize genuine cases of sexual harassment
So, can you post any of my comments that defined sexual harassment? Only the people involved in the situations with Cuomo know what happened and nobody else has a right to tell them how they should feel or define their own experiences.
It a woman lets you touch them it is not a sexual assault which is what it would have been, she did not work for him. This is about subordinate women employees of a government official, their boss, a feeling threatened by his sexual advancements and even physical contact, THAT is sexual harassment in the workplace. But then of course as far as the Democrats it was OK for Bill Clinton to be a serial sexual harasser and even assaulter and he is still put up on a pedestal along with aiding and abetting wife.
In the workplace by the boss it certainly can be and when you listen to their allegations in their entirety it certainly appears that way. He was hitting on them for sex is they alleged and the Democrats including Cuomo say the women MUST be SHALL be believed until the accused proves different.
