I thought Solyndra was where our energy future (and green jobs) lay.

If the thermal generator is such a good idea why does the government have to pay for it?

And don't tell me it's because no one else will because where you and Obama see our green future the smart money sees another government boondoggle.

Not only is he just squandering more money, but he's adding more favoritism to the mix. I think Obama really does want to be a 1 termer.

Then the $737 million could end up in the same rat hole as the $535 million that President Zero gave to Solyandra?

You know the private sector is better at the venture capital business than academics and government workers because the private sector is risking its own money whereas Obama and his flunkies are not.

If a project is too risky for the private sector then its too risky for the taxpayers also.

This point cannot be effectively argued against: If solar power (or light rail) were profitable, the private sector would be all over this.

    It's not.

But Obama thinks he knows better than these businessmen/women know.

    Sure.

That's why he rushed ahead to give $535 million to Solyanda when the private sector would not.

Now the taxpayers have been bilked for half a billion dollars and Obama wants to do it again only bigger next time.

And when the money is lost, what then? Go back and tax some more. And plan for a re-election ...

I still say it's a death wish; he keeps doing this crap over and over and expects to be re-elected?

Only the Hoover Dam and nuclear power are comparable to what we are talking about here.

Unlike this Snipe hunt the Hoover Dam was proven technology.

In nuclear power you may have a point except that nuclear power was classified technology stemming from the atomic bomb that only government could do.

Green energy meets neither of those two tests.

Certainly the private sector can do solar power if it made an ounce of sense.

Which you tell us it does not at this time.

Chump change to big spending liberals like Obama who see the federal budget as their own personal piggy bank.

But I'm betting a majority of the voters are not laughing off the loss of that much money.

The "Cost Per Job" with Nasa is about 10X LESS than this Boondoggle and gave us a space program that has provided us with the Technological Edge that we currently maintain over the world, PLUS built Several Space Shuttles that put up most of the Communications Satellites that we have in space.

Same with the Highway system and Hoover Dam, they're net BENEFITS to the Economy.

Where's the BEEF here? Where's the Benefit?

You shut down ONE Nuclear Plant, and you would need a Solar Array the SIZE OF RHODE ISLAND to replace it. What are we going to do, cover every Forest, Every Park, Every open space we have, with Solar Panels and Windmills??

Nuclear actually MAKES money, and doesn't need to be subsidized, but the amount of regulations makes it impossible to get through without a hand from the Government.

there are 1000 ways to do solar, and the cutting edge tech isnt profit proven.

if the hoover dam and nuclear power are proven as you claim, then why didnt hte private sector pay for them????

Well if the headline changes tomorrow to Obama reconsiders the 737 million, I'll change my statement accordingly.

Seems at the moment, whether it has actually been delivered is mere formality.
