President Obama is expected to issue an Executive Action which could possibly take effect as early as next week expanding background checks for any gun purchases. The President is also expected to impose tighter rules for the interim period when a gun is lost/stolen until the time that lost/stolen gun reaches the buyer.

The President is frustrated with Congress for not taking significant action on gun control and the President has vowed to use the power of the Presidency to initiate gun control via Executive Action.

In my opinion, I am elated that President Obama wants to issue an Executive Action for Gun Control and 2016 may be the President's best year, yet.

But, what is your opinion? Do you favor the Executive Action or do you oppose the Executive Action?

Obama won't and can't expand background checks to all gun sales.

but he can expand them to all who act as de-facto gun dealers by selling many guns at the same time.

LOL, ooohhhh my gawd. I think you know my opinion.
My guns are my property and I will buy and sell them as such. Period.

The function of the administrative branch is to enforce laws, not make them.

sounds great on the surface. heres the problem

starts with this background check stuff. Which legal gun owners go through anyways.

then it spreads to stopping face to face sales without going through an FFL. People say....yes of course that makes sense!

Big funding goes to enforcement agencies......OK, i guess thats OK.

Now comes the fun part...how in the world will they ever enforce it? who will enforce it?

The answer to that is a national registry.

So in the end all this is an executive order to push the path to an open national registration. Thats the only way it can work. With registration comes inspection. So law abiding gun owners get to have visits from the ATF inspection crew...Whats that... you let your brother borrow your rifle to go hunting..... did you transfer the rifle through an ffl and pay the fee.....?

add to that the whole no fly list stuff where it will be determined by ....who knows. Then come more laws to put people on lists. next thing you know we have lots of lists with people on them (whether they know it or not) for all kinds of reasons to justify taking away the rights of the populace for people who have never done anything.

Oh and the populace never even had a say. NICE!

How folks will sit back and justify executive actions limiting peoples rights is beyond me but I understand their are just a lot of angry people around these days that want to take things away from people. Watch out for that karma folks.

not too hard to figure out.

ATF will start treating private sellers like FFLs if they spend a decent amount of time and energy selling guns

Ok, well he's the executive branch, so.....

    Constitution test? Ever take one?

Meh, any action he takes will be largely symbolic. Without the legislative branch, there just isn't much he can do. The only good this may do is on Obama's conscience that he did all he could in the face of right wing obstructionism.

There's only one way to solve this problem (seeing as the genie is out of the bottle and there's no way of putting it back in?) - anyone caught in possession of a gun will be shot with it.
