And here's where I have to dumb everything down for the conservative and explain words. Go look up the definition of job and then go look up the definition of an incentive.

Once you have proven that you understand the difference, I'll continue with your next stupid question.

What does it have to do with creating jobs NOW and you do know this does not apply to existing loans.

I'll just ask you refrain from any more stupid answers.

Fail. You have not demonstrated you understand the difference between a job and an incentive.

So you think this is just about some contribution to society issue?

... and not the system sucking off more cream than what is actually there?
Is there any possibility that the approach is just a bit too simplistic?

You get the privilege of doing your part of civil responsibility, you agreed to this contract when you use communal property, like roads, libraries, clean water, poison free food. Sucks, but that's life.

They might as well shut the program down then, because it is obvious only the wealthy have opportunities in this country. That is why our social mobility rates are so low in this "land of opportunity".

The premise that the university sells is certification with the ability to receive a job and more money. The loans are given under the auspice that the investment paid will result in a return. If graduating students aren't receiving jobs after graduation, then they were obviously sold a faulty product and shouldn't be expected to pay. It is only fair that some of the loans be at very least made easier to pay, as the educational system isn't providing a large number of graduates with jobs.

I totally agree that university's get way to much money for what they produce. I also agree that the next financial bubble may be student loans.

Those are seperate issues though that probably deserve their own thread. Start them if you'd like. I'll chime in.

Don't get me wrong ... You are correct

and I TOTALLY understand the hardship which students are dealing with and as a parent of a 13 year old who has AMAZING math and science skills. I seriously expect to go into hock up to my neck to be sure he gets into at very least Cornell ...

I just noticed that when I say things - many times people do not know that I am not typical in the sense that I am looking for things which help just us.

I believe that to fix things EVERYONE needs to take a hit so that it can be totally and legitimately a form of JUSTICE for EVERYONE - not just a select few.

My wife gets pissed because I do things that are FAIR and many time they do not do the family any good at all - but that's me.

Ah, the pretense that conservatives need extra help from our more intellectual friends on the left....it is a lot like having the inmates at the asylum give their attendants extra help to be understood. The conceit assumes the inmates are running the asylum..Conservatives know better,

Another amusing leftist conceit, that they get to define the imaginary 'social contract' so as to have the right providing the livelihood of the left through government coercion...

The only thing horrible about this is that when they discharge your unpaid balance, you have to pay income taxes on it which could drive you deeper in the hole because the IRS interest rate is much higher than the student loan interest rate, so you still end up paying but with a gun to your head.

I paid off my loans over 7 or 8 years. BIG WHOOP!!! Pay your debts you frackin ingrate leeches. No NEW car when you graduate. Get a room mate if you have to. No going on vacations. Pay off your loans. Don't whine to daddy Obama. If you're not capable of paying your debt, you're no good to anyone.
