The bible is a multi-thousand year old game of Telephone. There is a lot about the guy named Jesus that isn't in there. Rather then focusing on what they did, I'd rather stick to the tenants. Love one another. Even Jesus flogged money-makers, so we wasn't all about peace and love. He was willing to fight for his beliefs. Right or wrong.

A lot of the violent commands in the Qur'an are self-defensive. Then extremists twist those words to suit their needs.

Look, I'm pretty sure we both agree that Religious Extremists are bad, and should be excised. I say, if a person is peaceful, then let them be peaceful. Attacking the religion itself is only going to make peaceful people feel like they need to be violent to defend themselves.
    /QUOTE]

Oh? And which flight will you be taking to Africa to help stop the Christian Extremists from fighting the Muslim Extremists?

Obama, like Bush knew that declaring war against 1.5+ billion Muslims makes no sense. By calling the violent ones fake Muslims, we are separating them from the peacefully ones which has the intended result of creating more Muslim allies than enemies, which is a good thing.

Oh come on. Islam is all about murder and vengeance and injustice. Muhammad and all Islamo's since have butchered their way across continents and spread their satanic religion through forced conversion. Islam is the very definition of atrocity, murder, and every perversion of civilization from misogyny and every other injustice that could possibly be imagined. You espouse the propaganda while ignoring the obvious out of the headlines and actual history truth.

The assumption here is that those in the Middle East believe already, or will take Mr. Obama's word as truth, that IS followers are not "true" Muslims.

I doubt that very much. I feel that IS and its teachings and actions are closer to the Muslim heart felt beliefs than we comprehend.

    Just my thoughts.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the Qur'an and hadiths (?).

Exactly, and therein lies the problem with trying to make right and wrong out a text that is open to interpretation and full of contradictions and logical fallacies. We may believe our interpretation is correct, but that doesn't necessarily invalidate the interpretations of others. There is no definitive right or wrong.

That's true of the early Meccan verses but not the later Medinan verses. As Ali Dashti pointed out in 23 Years, A Study of Prophetic Career of Muhammad, Muhammad's teachings took a radical turn after the Hijra, and that turn is reflected in the Qur'an. It is in the Medinan verses where you find the most bellicose passages in the Qur'an (ex. IX:29):

    http://quran.com/9/29

I support the Muslims who are content to adhere to the better angels of their faith, as well. As for your "explanation", it wasn't a theological argument that accounted for the differing and conflicting interpretations of the Islamic faith.

I'm pro-Choice and even I don't think that's an honest argument. Either you support the notion of a woman's right to obtain an abortion or you don't, regardless of how you conduct your own affairs. But I digress...

I agree. I think the ideological war that is taking place within the Muslim community is similar to the ideological war Christendom went through during the Reformation and then the Age of Reason and Enlightenment. Islamdom has had similar periods in the past but fundamentalists were able to strangle them in the crib. This time I think there will be no going back, despite the desperate efforts of the Abu Bakr al-Baghdadis of this world.

I suggest you read the wiki link as it summarizes the position quite nicely.

If you really believe that, answer a simple question....

how EXACTLY do you plan on killing a BILLION people? Or is it not as big a threat as you claim?

Well, I guess they weren't differentiating. Technically what Grok said was true, but apparently he didn't mean it that way.

    How about a "pro-lifer" shooting a doctor....would that work? I don't have a video, but I've got a murder victim.

So one Muslim's opinion, in other words.

How about just stopping them from coming to the West? Why do we need them here, aside from voting Democrat?

The fundamentals of Islam are the five pillars of Islam... You are confusing terms ... Its not the same as Christian fundamentalists.

The Torah has no stated expiration date. In that sense, it IS open ended. And that includes killing people for working on the Sabbath, etc. Sure, in general Jews don't actually do it, just like the vast majority of Muslims don't kill people over Sharia law.

Not a lot of difference between "God wrote this" and "it's the inerrant, inspired Word of God". When you're talking about literalism, it's basically "how fundamentalist are you".

Was it spite and arrogance? Or did the sophomore really believe his own press releases with messianic zeal?

Can you give example of a command for followers to wage war indefinitely against anyone in the Bible? Like I said, the violence in the OT was God telling the Israelites to attack certain enemies, at certain times, at certain locations. I don't recall ever seeing a line that was open ended.

    I think it's a big difference.

Fundamentalism is not really a problem in and of itself. Followers of Jainism become more peaceful the more fundamentalist they are.

Blocking their immigration would be a huge benefit.

Of course I believe that, other wise I would not say it. Its fricking obvious to everyone except Obama voters. We do not have to kill them all, just the ones who have engaged in this war, and they should be confronted with all determination and violence of action until they are either dead or surrender. Then there will be peace, at least until that religion of hate and murder reaserts itself with fresh people who have forgotten they were defeated.

You must have misread my post, Margot. I referred to the fundamentalist ulema in the Middle Ages who opposed the study and dissemination of the sciences and philosophies that they viewed as un-Islamic.

It took only 19 to knock down the World Trade Center, so what's your point?

I'm not talking about things like when Yahweh told them to go kill the Canaanites. Sure THAT was a one-off. But that was not the law of Moses. Things like the commandment to kill someone who works on the Sabbath, engages in idolatry, or screws someone who is engaged to someone else, (which ARE laws of Moses) are open-ended.

Funny all you Obama apologists parrot his words. Under what part of those murdering pieces of (*)(*)(*)(*) call the mission? Oh yeah.....that would be islam, that word of allah, that would be in the name of muslims around the world. Now you may not like that name, but is in fact their name. As far as them being a state? We will see, they have made their way through Iraq and Syria, and recruiting soldiers by the thousands. Now Obama want to recruit the same people he just a month ago farmers. What this empty suit didn't learn in Harvard, is how to lead, but he is really good a reading

You can believe what you want, most Americans can see through the bull(*)(*)(*)(*)

He is correct. ISIS is about as representative of Islam as Fred Phelps and his bunch of psychotics are representative of Christianity.
