Just going to use a quick dictionary definition. Socialism- "A political and economic theory of that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole." Most of the economy is privately owned and exchanges are between free parties. We don't have the government owning grocery stores, fast food restaurants, wal-mart, etc. Now higher taxes are redistributing money, but the most that it seems you could really say about that would be it is a socialistic tendency. Unless Obama decides he wants the federal government to actually run the economy, I don't see how Obama is a socialist.
"Spread the wealth" around has many meanings. It doesn't just mean take your money and give it to someone else. All of economics and capitalism is about how to spread wealth around to meet the maximum amount of productivity capacity. Achieving that result does not mean you have to tax the rich and give to the poor. So this is what we call a logical fallacy. But you guys won't ever care.
Your final conclusion is wrong. Socialism would be that workers are the ones that own the means of production, and it is possible using cooperatives. If Obama was socialist he would do that. So he isn't, as much is socialdemocrat and even he isn't this, he is just another center right POTUS.
