You are right - depictions or descriptions of mythological creatures, whether they be on cave walls (and I have yet to see depictions of anything resembling dinosaurs in cave paintings,) or in ancient books of myth and fable, cannot sensibly be regarded as proof such creatures existed. We might as well claim that elderly ladies rode across the sky on broomsticks a couple of centuries ago - there is enough pictorial 'evidence' to substantiate such a belief.

For those trying to use ancient art as proof of the coexistence of human and dinosaur, keep in mind that "god" didn't hide the fossils from humanity until the 19th century for an Englishman to find. Ancient civilization, especially the neolithic ones, in all probability found some while harvesting rocks from quarries. What do you think those culture would have believe when they found the remains of a plesiosaur or a diplodocus... How about a pterodactyl, I bet that would have inspire some "shaman" to dream about flight of fire breathing dragons...
HAHAHA.. yes of course they found fossils and wondered about them. I don't think this "humans lived with dinosaurs" is so much a problem for "Texans".. it seems to be a problem for Christian Zionists and Evangelicals. BTW.. Texas has loads of dino fossils down in the Big Bend.
Dragons are proof that Texans evolved from people in the Dark ages in Europe. I mean even cursory thought would tell you that flying and fire breathing are a recipe for toasted extinction - now if the fire was the OTHER end - that is more logical
Ya know, I don't have a dog in this fight and I really don't care. BUT there are remnants of dinosaurs living in the world today: BIRDS. The American Wild Turkey is a descendant of dino birds and an excellent example. It has been well documented in National Geographic. Check out the viddy ! The Loch Ness monster - IF it exists - might be a Plesiosaur. Source of photos We really don't know the extent of what lives in the Ocean. We know more about outer space ! You can make what you want of all this. Was man and T-Rex living on Earth at the same time? I don't think so, but it's possible some remnants of dinos lived on after the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction.

it's odd to see how many people have such closed minds, scientists are discovering new things every day...I suppose they all think we have reached the pinnacle of human knowledge and won't ever learn anything else new. it does strike me as a bit amusing...religious people are mocked because of their adherence to a set of beliefs, but these people cling to their set of beliefs with equal vigor. Excellent summation of exactly the point I was trying to make. No, not scary, awesome. Trust me I've been playing Skyrim so I think I could probably take one on. I doubt many works of dragons turned up in Texas, but I do find it very interesting it's the one mythical creature that appeared on virtually every content even before means of communication existed. In other words, nearly every civilization on earth came up with almost the exact same idea... coincidence?
No one denies the existence of the link between birds and dinosaurs. However, that link is 65,000,000 years long. There is no evidence to suggest it's existence. Those are decomposed whales.
No, just a too general term for a different creatures. source I think that the dragon is based on various dinosaur fossils found in different parts of the world. Because no animals were ever seen that resembled the fossils, the dragons were given magical powers.
