http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/05/...-townsend-farms-frozen-berries-from-costco/2/ Frozen berries from Costco from: "Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend" ".....if you have eaten Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend frozen berries during the past 14 days, contact your medical provider for an immunization. If you do not have a medical provider, contact your local health department." It does say the risk is 'low' but who needs any risk from berries in the first place? "Organic" strikes again. They probably paid more $$$ for those little poison berries too.
Hepatitis A on food has nothing to do with organic or non organic. It is caused by fecal contamination. http://www.foodsafety.gov/poisoning/causes/bacteriaviruses/hepatitisa
Organic food must use natural feces fertilizer that must be composted properly. There have been problems in the past with improperly composted fertilizer. Organic food producers cannot use chemicals to kill germs off their produce either.
I am not aware that "natural feces fertilizer" must be used on organic food, nor can I seem to find a link for that. Would you be so kind as to provide one? That being said, hepatitis A is not from fertilizer. A link was provided that clearly explains as much.
I suggest you become aware...Your life may depend on it. Here are a few of the dangers one confronts when buying so-called "Organic" food... http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-12-07/fugitive-spiders-and-other-organic-food-dangers And this.... http://www.hudson.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=publication_details&id=1196 Organic food is more dangerous than conventionally grown produce because organic farmers use animal manure as the major source of fertilizer for their food crops. Animal manure is the biggest reservoir of these nasty bacteria that are afflicting and killing so many people. Organic farmers compound the contamination problem through their reluctance to use antimicrobial preservatives, chemical washes, pasteurization, or even chlorinated water to rid their products of dangerous bacteria. One organic grower summed up the community’s attitude as follows: "Pasteurization has only been around a hundred years or so; what do they think people did before that?" The answer is simple. They died young. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/jun/8/dead-bodies-demand-organic-food-moratorium/?page=all Right now, someone nearby is buying organic bean sprouts. It may be the last thing he ever does. Last week’s E. coli outbreak in Germany - potentially traced to an organic farm - was more deadly than the largest nuclear disaster of the last quarter-century. http://www.cgfi.org/2002/06/the-hidden-dangers-in-organic-food/ Organic food is more dangerous than conventionally grown produce because organic farmers use animal manure as the major source of fertilizer for their food crops. And this could be a cause of Hep-A contamination Organic farmers compoOund the contamination problem through their reluctance to use antimicrobial preservatives, chemical washes, pasteurization, or even chlorinated water to rid their products of dangerous bacteria.
http://www.ota.com/organic/foodsafety/manure.html Composted manure is a primary source of soil fertility for organic farmers. There is nothing wrong with composted manure however, it must have reached a temperature that kills bacteria. Although to be 'Organic' one needs to be certified, there is no guarantee that the hundreds of thousands of so-called 'Organic certified' producers are always doing so properly or inspected on a regular basis. Since so-called 'Organic' food producers generally do not use chemicals to kill bacteria on their food, there will always be a danger of fecal contamination from either improperly composted manure (E-Coli, Salmonella) or Hep-A (improper hand washing and food handling).

Antioxidants Fuel Lung Cancer in Mice February 01, 2014 WASHINGTON Millions of people take vitamins, minerals and herbal pills every day, hoping to stay healthy, and avoid disease. Mistakes happen whether its organic or not. Someone could get sick due to improperly composted manure on an organicly grown item, or because the chicken packager didn't wash all the chicken manure off the non-organic chicken. The best thing to do is to grow it yourself. Then you know exactly how it was prepared and what you are eating.
