There is a pretty popular candidate running for the White House in 2016. Anti-gay, warhawk, corporatist. Wants to continue the drug prohibition, subsidize/bail-out big insurance companies. Supported the reauthorization of the unconstitutional Patriot Act and the expansion of war-time powers such as indefinite detention (NDAA) and torture of foreign prisoners. Supports standardized education such as no child left behind and Common Core. Campaigned for Goldwater during the height of the civil rights movement. Sounds like a fairly right-wing candidate.

The candidate above is a Republican, right? Nope. That's Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner for the Democratic Party nomination. The party known to be the "left-wing" party in this country. Let that sink in for a minute.

Now, there is another candidate running. Pro-gay, dove, anti-corporatist. Wants to repeal drug prohibition, institute universal single-payer healthcare, opposes the Patriot Act in it's entiriety, opposes wartime powers such as indefinite detention and torture of foreign prisoners. Supports teaching to a student's individual ability instead of to a test, and marched on Washington with MLK during the height of the civil rights movement. Sounds like a fairly left-wing candidate.

He's got to be popular in the (allegedly) left-wing Democratic Party, right? Wrong again. That candidate is Bernie Sanders, who while granted is making forward progress in his campaign, is still waay behind Hillary Clinton. As in double digits. Like 20-30 points behind.

There is a party that supports all or most of Bernie's extremely liberal platform. That party even nominated a candidate similar to Bernie in 2012. That party is the Green Party, one of the smallest national political parties in the country. Not even allowed on the debate stage. Didn't even grace 1% in the 2012 election.

But we are a nation apparently so left-wing that a significant portion of the population thinks we are on the verge of communism...and that the problems in this country can be largely traced back to liberals and hard-left policies.

Anybody else see a massive, laughable problem with this?
