I own a drawing tablet and I haven't used it much since I got it. I want to get back into drawing but can never find the motivation to do so. I like drawing on paper a lot better than with the tablet, but I love coloring with the tablet. I don't have a scanner at home though so the whole sketching it out first and then coloring it on the computer thing is a difficult without that necessary machine! Anyhow, I like to doodle so if anyone has any ideas of what I should doodle please share and I will doodle it up for you. I'm good at drawing: Animals Female figures Anime characters Not so good at drawing (so need more practice!): Male figures Backgrounds/landscapes Realism Won't draw: Mecha Gore Anything inappropriate or gross Some of my drawings from a LONG time ago. Like years ago, so I am definitely very rusty since then. Here are some of my most recent work doodles - things I draw up at the register when there are no customers and nothing else to do. lol My boss has been having me draw all our coworkers as animals which has been a lot of fun to try and do, plus I have to draw from memory here because I don't have a smart phone or anything to Google up pics of the animals either.
Those are actually pretty good. I understand what you mean about trying to get back into something. I love to write and use to do it all the time but I just don't have the same passion or motivation for it anymore. You're pretty talented though and I would like to see more of your work if that's okay.
I don't really have any drawings that are better than these. All my old stuff is from when I was a teenager and really into anime and honestly when I go back and look at it I do not like it. I'd have to go and re-scan everything into my computer again too, that might take some time. lol I am actually working on designing two maps right now for a book I am writing (well have been trying to write since I was 16!). These are the original pictures from several years ago, but I am trying to redo them on real paper by hand rather than with my tablet and make them look more J.R.R. Tolkein-like, with drawings of the forests and mountainous areas, etc.
Yeah I've been writing(or trying to)for along time myself. At least since I was 10 maybe although I could be wrong. I would love to be able to find some of my old works and just review them and see how much I've progressed over the years. I know for a certain my earliest pieces were just crap and cringe worthy but it's always good to know where you've come from. Hand drawn maps are definetely better in my opinion. Their's personality to it and it gives life to the world in a way a cg map can't do. Unfortunately I lack imagination in that department but one thing I would do if I did map the entire world I'm creating is try to work the continents like they could all fit. You know, continental drift. I just think it would be a neat little detail to add.
Oh yeah, I am sure my old writings from when I was younger are absolutely terrible, on par with newbie fan-fiction writing and lots of Mary Sues. lol The idea to make the map pieces of a whole Pangea is pretty cool. i'd probably have done that if I wasn't basing my two planets off of the map of Greece. I literally chopped the country up into pieces separated them into these two maps, if you were to combine the central continents of both they would fit together and look like Greece. =)
That's pretty cool. I do love the challenge of creating a culture for each area of the world. Making it seem as real possible and making the world your own. And your characters, well your characters if you do them good have a life of their own. As weird as it is to hear you can see how they'll react or behave even in everday situations or know automatically what they would say. Some of my own characters surprise me sometimes and that's when the fun really begins to happen.
Holy crap! You drew Link! That's awesome! Damn good job too. So good, in fact, that I feel like putting on a banana suit and dancing.
Hell yeah I drew Link! I am a video gamer. The Legend of Zelda is one of my all time favorite video game series. xD
Impressive, Pasi. You should do something with that. Short story.... this guy who became a pretty good friend of mine while in the Navy was a "doodler"... he showed up on board fresh out of boot camp and "A" school, about 19 or 20, and always had a sketch pad with him. He would draw very realistic funny caricatures of shipmates and all sorts of other things... futuristic automobiles, motorcycles, animals, abstracts....He had an incredible eye for scale, perspective and shadowing, and was dead on with capturing the "essence"...or "personality" of a subject..... So anyway, I started pushing him to do something with it.... said he was "wasting" a talent with his chosen rate (job..."scope dope"...or "sonar operator"), and he should look into becoming a "Navy illustrator"...he did, and after jumping through the bureaucracy for about 6 months, was finally accepted, and finished his out the remaining years of his first enlistment in the field. We lost touch for a dozen years, and come to find out (ahh, Facebook...a blessing and a curse) he'd been hired as a design / illustrator for the Ford Motor Company immediately after the Navy, and had been with them for about 5 years.
Ok you requested this goldendoodle quite a few days ago. xD I just managed to motivate myself to sit down and actually fiddle around on my tablet. I am not a very good painter and there are a ton of settings/paintings tools I don't know how to work right just yet. Anyways it's not finished at all, but here's a goldendoodle work in progress painting. I did this in about 20 minutes. I just outlined the head with the base color and started adding lighter shades of color and went to town trying to blend it together to look like fur. I really need to relearn all my Corel Painter tools. I might get Paint Tool Sai because a lot of people recommend that program as well. This is my reference picture.
