Paula Deen is accused of using the n-word and uttering a slur for female genitalia in front of employees in a new lawsuit filed in Georgia yesterday, reports say. Radar Online reported that the lawsuit was filed on behalf of Lisa Jackson, who worked for Paula Deen Enterprises for five years and claims to have toiled closely with Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, co-owner of Uncle Bubba's Oyster House in Savannah. Jackson left her job as general manager of the restaurant in 2010. Paula Deen has been hit by a lawsuit. Jackson alleges that Deen dropped a racial epithet in 2007 when Jackson asked about server uniforms while she was coordinating Hiers' wedding. Jackson claims that Deen said, "Well what I would really like is a bunch of little [bleeps] to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties. You know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around. Now, that would be a true Southern wedding wouldn't it? But we can't do that because the media would be on me about that." Jackson also alleges that Deen used a distasteful term for female genitalia in her presence. The lawsuit states that when Jackson was promoted to general manger of Bubba's Oyster House, Deen told her, "If you think I have worked this hard to lose everything because of a piece of [bleep], you better think again." Jackson's lawsuit also makes several allegations about Hiers, saying that he used the n-word himself, in reference to President Obama. Jackson claims that Hiers subjected her to sexual harassment by regularly viewing pornography in the small office that they shared. She also alleges that Hiers once passed out a printout of two women having sex along with the words "Why Gay Marriage Should Be Legal." Jackson says that when she complained to management, no action was taken. --------------------------------- what is this bid deal about the N word..I see african americans using it all the time.. I've been called cracker, whitey, mofo, wop, kraut, and to many others I can't mention here, so what..I'm not going to run home and cry to mommy..I can't stand Paula Deen but for her to get sued over things she said jabbered about in her own restaurant is going to far..
We will have to see how this plays out. So far all we have is the accusation. I will be sad if it it is true- I don't care for Paula Dean's TV show, but hers is a true American success story- and I have met her back when her restaurant was much smaller, and she was nothing but sweet and gracious. It will be disappointing if this turns out to be true...but let the truth come out whatever it is.
Soon...very soon, only fools will speak to anyone about anything. A 'great era of silence' may be just around the corner. Speak on Monday..Litigate on Tuesday.
I'm with you ... I usually handle these type of issues in a way that resolves it once and for all with High Impact and Zero Cost and Effort wasted in court. I think it's high time people start understanding the consequences of their words before they words leave their mouths. One good way is to re-insert those words directly for full consumption and reevaluation. Then I think people will start to think first or they can get Fat on Words. Just my opinion ...
One Good Foot to the Azz and then Guess who will be Suing? This ain't the the 1920's anymore ... I wish someone would do that to me ... workplace or not. There's one sure way to win the hearts and mind of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s!
All the time? Hell she had to go back to 2007 to find one. I don't think that shows she was constantly doing it. This woman looks to be out to get some free money
Chill.. it hasn't been proved yet.. Did she lose her job over it? Three years to get to a civil suit is not long.
I didn't know much about Paula Deen prior to her appearance on 'Oprah's Next Chapter' a few days ago. Her story is really touching though; I really hope this isn't true.
Must ado about nothing. Somebody looking for free money... wonder if it's the same Lisa Jackson who Obama picked to head up the EPA?
I agree ... much ado about nothing. But I know for a fact; one well placed fist between the upper and lower gums always puts crap like this to rest ... Guaranteed.
sounds to me that someone is trying to pay the bills by using the recent events to try and claim Paula went on a racial rampage again. kind of funny the person didnt try suing until 6 years after it happened and 3 years after the employee left the business. yeah, not fishy at all lol.
