    Link.

    And she is right.

If they don't want to move the State of Israel to Tasmania, or Madagascar, this is at least a step in the right direction.

If it happens, I hope the West showers the State of Palestine with the same billions it has blessed Israel with.

(A bit of idle useless information. I was told that the closest dna match on the Planet is between Israelis and Palestinians.)

Quid Pro Quo, the Palestinians must recognise Israel and make peace, the children of Abraham must share the Holy land

Australia already recognises the State of Israel.

We are likely now to recognise the State of Palestine and I don't care what its foreign policy is including whether or not it recognises Israel. You can bet Israel will not recognise Palestine.

Bugger both of them. We recognise both, and let's get on with it.

Wonderful. Presuming there are any Palestinians left they could have Gaza I guess. Live peacefully with their neighbours and build up a Muslim Paradise.

When they get sovereignty, there will be no more stealing of land. Then it can be called and dealt with as invasion.

Call me a terrible cynic but I don't think any of it will make much difference, either way. They'll continue to potshot at each other and invade and steal land. The dealing with will be exactly the same.

Ie, anything written on paper is a waste of time in the Middle East. The secret lies in expanded consciousness and I think that will be a slow process.

I think the difference is international recognition of a State. Lots follows from that.

This conflict is deeply rooted in a number of areas, recognition of each and their sovereign right should be there of course. Easier said than done unfortunately.

    I understand.

I felt the same way about the Camp David Accords, which have held up for nearly 50 years!

As long as Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran exist, Israel will not experience peace.

I hope The United States stops funding the terrorists in Palestine.

    That's a good point.

Perhaps there is hope - but only if Israel can matyr enough Hamas to water down their violent religious extremist influence. All without killing too many Palestinian civilians so as to completely alienate Palestinians. And then we need a regime change in Israel. That's three big planets that need to align.

Too funny, when the controversial narrative is US funding Israel. I guess Americans can pop on whatever colour glasses they wantn and see the exact opposite.

I've always felt that the "two state solution" was the way to go.
IMO, Israel dropped the ball big time in this conflict. I don't blame them for going after Hamas, as they are a volatile group with intentions on eliminating Israeli's, and that isn't going to go over well anytime. But, when Israel had the chance to show mercy, like allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza, they could have taken on the role of humanitarian, and maybe the Palestinians would have understood and respected that. Instead, they seem like not only do they want to inflict serious and devastating consequences on the Palestinians, they don't want to even allow humanitarian aid to the masses. The Israeli's are pissed, understandably so after Oct 7th and all the missile lobbing on a daily basis. But there is a time to peace and humanity, which is all important in the overall scheme of things, especially long term.
Hamas needs to go, but the Palestinians also need help. If Israel had found enough humanity to do that effectively, maybe it would have positive consequences down the road.

I rather doubt that, that would put our Aussie brothers out of step from the rest of the Western world.
