    Isn't this nice?

Pentagon Burdens Warfighting Commanders with New Transgender Policies for Military Personnel

New policies expand transgender procedures to the service academies, allow gender transitions while on-duty, and mandate group shower facility use by both biological sexes if certain administrative requirements are met. Oh, and military commanders are responsible to “not accommodate biases against transgender individuals”

The RealClear Defense article cites official U.S. Army training PowerPoint slides, which were originally uncovered by the Wall Street Journal, and notes that they cover various “vignettes,” such as what Commanders should do if “a ‘female to male’ soldier announc[es] a pregnancy.” RealClear Defense also explains that the PowerPoint slides cover a scenario where a “male to female” soldier, who successfully transitioned and is officially recognized as such despite not having gender reassignment surgery, “wants to use female-designated showers.” “Another scenario describes a female soldier who is experiencing tension with a ‘transgender female’ roommate.”

This is a brave new world for being a commander of a unit with transgenders in it. I'm curious as to the transgender policies of the Russian and Chinese armies. Anyone know?

Its a real challenge to get a guy in a skirt and heels to be a Rambo.

I wonder if the transgender women will get time off for giving birth.

China is going to destroy us.

The invading hordes will face our sexually confused military swinging their purses at them.

I was just sitting here thinking what Marines will do.

If they implement this tomorrow, we'll have 100% female Marine Corps.

Then they'll dare their commanders to prove they're not women.

lol, not sure if the Russian army should be held up as an example of anything positive. They seem to be ineffective despite their homophobia, likely transphobia, nazi delusions, disrespect for civilian lives.

But yeah, handling personnel is always challenging. I don't envy people who work in HR, either.

Heh, "HR." I'm sure that's exactly how you view it, an HR issue.

And it isn't because? Really anything about "difficulties in getting along" are HR issues. HR isn't just about punishment. It's good to proactively address potential issues before they're serious or make the organization look bad.

'We don't need a civilian militia for defense, we have the best military!'

Well, that's prolly still true. But it doesn't look like its gonna be the case for long at this rate... I'm glad we have a backup plan if this experiment goes wonky.

Do cis women who are not pregnant get time off to give birth? I’d imagine the same will be the case for trans women.

You're confusing the military with Dunder-Mifflin. If you think this is simply an HR issue, than I'm sure we don't have a common basis to discuss the topic.

We want a volunteer military without a draft. We want people who want to serve their country there. Feeling they are a man trapped in a woman's body, or vice versa, need not be disqualifying. Anything that is not disqualifying, should be accommodated to a reasonable extent. Can they shoot the enemy? Can they operate the drone? Can they work as a team with others? You're being too vague for me to even know what your point is, though.

I thought I was pretty explicit in the OP, that transgender policies are going to create headaches for commanders dealing with the multiple issues noted in the article.

But you think it's just an HR issue so...

That wasn't quite what I said in the original post. I said it was similar to what HR has to deal with. Anybody who leads people is going to have to deal with some of the same issues as an HR department.

I guess if all recruits were a nazi's wet dream, things would be simpler. Diversity does have its drawbacks in social complexity, but I don't think this so-called headache is enough to exclude trans from the military.

For your reference, here is the post again:

Top General Admits Transgender Inclusion Hurts Army Recruiting

An Army general admitted to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.) that the Army’s transgender inclusion policies are "probably not" helping recruitment.

Gaetz pressed Gen. James McConville during a Wednesday Pentagon budget hearing on whether recruitment of a key military demographic, "men from the American South," might suffer from the Army's transgender inclusion policies, such as its guidelines allowing biological men to shower with female soldiers.

Gaetz argued during the hearing that the policy of transgender inclusion hindered the goal of building a "cohesive team," telling Army Secretary Christine Wormuth that condoning "people with male genitalia showering with your female soldiers" would hurt recruitment of women.

"I don’t think it’s going to be a big positive recruiting pitch to women that when someone shows up with male genitalia in their shower stall, that we tell them that we’re trying to build a cohesive team," Gaetz told Wormuth.

Wormuth pushed back against Gaetz's critiques of the transgender policies, saying, "Women are more worried about being sexually harassed in the Army than they are about the kinds of things that you’re bringing up."

Although...for an Army struggling with sexual harassment issues, I don't think allowing biological men with a penis in female shower and bathing facilities is a great help.

Then again, maybe it would be popular with the gals.

Needless to say, I oppose this stunt.

Should Transgender Men Register for the Draft? Lawmaker Says Yes 'If They Want to Be Treated Like Men'

The idea comes in the form of an amendment to the annual defense policy bill proposed by far-right Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn. The amendment would change the requirements to register for Selective Service by defining "male citizen of the United States" as including a "transgender person who identifies as male.''

"If they want to be treated like men, then they need to do what other men do and register for the Selective Service and get called up like everybody else," Burchett said in a statement to Military.com.

Much ado about nothing. We just celebrated 50 years without a draft. It won't be back.

I used to think that, but I'm less and less sure if we continue to have a drop off of enlistments.

Crunch the military from both sides of the aisle, Tuberville is doing an excellent job of injecting politics into the military too.

The Russian army is very effective, it has achieved a 7 to 1 kill ratio over the NATO trained and armed UAF over the duration of the war.

Although the news is hopelessly inaccurate, they can't hide how despite a big numerical advantage during the first half of the war, the UAF was unable to
achieve gains against the Russian army except where it made tactical withdrawals.
