I really think this is a bridge too far. There would be too many legal hurdles. Is the Left becoming hysterical:

 

Ummm. Slavery was never abolished. It’s protected in the Constitution.

 

Even California protects slavery in its state Constitution. They tried to vote this protection of slavery out this election but the people of California voted to retain slavery.

Most people believe the 13th Amendment abolished slavery. It didn’t. It simply made government the sole entity allowed to enslave. The 13A simply created a government monopoly on slavery and involuntary servitude.

 

Oh for the love of god…no one is going to be enslaving black people or any other race of people. Sure, hate crimes will go up but slavery…no.

That would be zero in fact Trump's election was a revolt against slavery to an overweening administrative state and also why most of Trump's agenda is about reigning in the excesses of that administrative state.

Were coal miners in the 20s slaves or just poorly paid people trapped by greed? Don't get hung up by the word slavery. Defacto slavery already exists if not in the pure form of the word. If a person can't quit their job because of financial instability of their own or community and the employer profits off an instability he created then the person is effectively enslaved.

Look at today's economy. Even during Bush Jr's or the ex-president's Covid recession the billionaire class made more. Giant companies bought out their smaller struggling competitors. Minor oil producers closed up when they couldn't sell their product and the big guys profited. Taxes on the hyper rich go down and the targets are on Social security and Medicare to whom the government has huge debts, two funds almost entirely funded by the middle and lower classes. Oddly enough the right blames those funds and they are never included in their calculations of taxes paid yet they account to $6 trillion of money the government debt consists.
Until the clamps are put on defacto slavery financially based rather than racially based will grow.
