    hahaha

nonna (nonni) and nonno = italian for grandmother and grandfather

*edit... you will often hear grandchildren referred to as niece and nephew, especially in sud italia. I know, kinda confusing. lol

I will definitely support your thread - we have to make up for the emptiness left by SMW's bar and grill moving across town..

Well apparently my grandfather likes his drinks warm too. I never met him though so I couldn't say. I just don't like ice in my drinks. The cold masks the flavor and I don't like watered down drinks. Room temperature is the way to go.

I can't blame him. I'm from Texas too and I can't stand country. It's absolutely horrible. But to be fair I have an old man's attitude to country. The crap they do today is just horrible. You can't even call it music. Now the stuff from when I was a kid, now that was country.

I have good news to share...my son, who along with his little family moved in with me in October, was offered a job last night! It will mean a move to another town, 50 miles away, but we're happy campers because it's his first job as a diesel mechanic, since getting his diesel mechanic license some 18 months ago. He left a production job with a trailer factory to move over here, but it was the right thing to do; he needed to get out of the environment he was in and I'm so thankful he did, and that he and his family have had some time to relax in my household and get their breath, and find each other again. It needed to happen and that was why I wanted them to come (I would not ordinarily advise people to leave a job, but there were extenuating circumstances, and this boy is a worker; he's never sloughed off in his life, so I wasn't concerned he'd get over here and become a bum). So anyway, long story short (TOO LATE!) he finally got a job, it's in his field (he'll be working in a shop) and his boss seems to be a decent human being, and has said he will help him find housing.

Though I'll miss having him and his family in the house every day I have to say, it will be sort of nice to have things a little quieter, again. 50 miles isn't too far away for a grown son and his family...

    Greetings all.

Today I will be mostly drinking beer, and watching the rugby. 6 nations Championship, Scotland against Italy first, and then France v Wales (which is on BBC America at midday eastern time, if anybody over there is interested).

I was in the stadium for the Wales v Ireland game last week:

It was a great game (even though we lost), but I'm looking forward to an afternoon/evening of rugby in the comfort of my own home this week, without having to drive afterwards, and being allowed to have a cigarette (the stadium is a no smoking place, which is hard work during such a stressful game like last week's)!

France against Wales could be a classic - both great teams, but both lost last week and will be out to revive their fortunes in the championship. I have a nice supply of bottled ales in the house to keep me going, and I'm ready for it!

No snow for us (as usual), just some rain (as usual).

Drinking beer, and watching rugby all weekend?!

...sounds like a good plan to me! lol

Do you ever watch the girls play? I see that a Welsh team has an upcoming game against the Irish women on the 13th (I think that was the date).

I've never watched the women play, but would enjoy seeing it. Is it as rough as mens league, or different rules?
