I agree with you so much that it is almost painful. 8) It's funny that when SD spoke at rallies the police had to tell them to leave because there was so much extremely aggressive protest and no one wanted to listen. NOW ..... people listen! And when everyone started to listen they found out that Åkesson is the smartest, most honest, most intelligent, most Democratic (Democracy is important to me), most sensible, and most civilized politician running for office - surprise-surprise!

I watched as one by one of every leader of every party proudly boasted that they would not cooperate with SD, no matter if Jimmie won the vote or not ..... and everyone would applaud! I voted S my whole life but after Palme was murdered and his Party fell to pieces I never voted again. I am still Social-Democrat but there isn't a single person in the Party who represents it anymore so there is no reason for me to vote for them. It is only a name. I started voting again when Mona Salin joined the other idiots and said that she would not cooperate with Åkesson. That's when I knew I had to start voting again. :boxing:

:bulletred: And as you say .....

I think it is rather dorky that they decided to copy the name of that German party. I think they have some valid points though, especially their policy of "repatriation" where immigrants are given subsidies for "going back home" and I also think their policy of "tjänstemanna-ansvar" is very healthy.

    They've interviewed Kasselstrand here: http://radio.bubb.la/2018-04-18/

I only listened to a couple of minutes but when he says that he's "utvecklad" my gut feeling is that they are the SD that the critics tried to label Jimmie Åkesson with. In other words, he is closer to the former SD's ideology if you know what I mean?

I've listened to the whole interview and from what I got, you are completely correct. Which isn't too surprising since AfS is the creation of the excluded SD-members and defectors who view SD as too milktoast and too adapted to "mainstream consensus".

All democratic parties are after one thing and that is maximising their voter base. This is why we often see parties, once they have grown, abandoning core values and adapting "mainstream values" which leads to them melting into being one of the majority.

Kasselstrand was acutally asked about this and how voters can be sure his party is different, but his answer wasn't convincing at all and mostly consisted of walking around the topic with empty promises.

Reminds me of a funny quote about small dogs by Ron Swanson:

I don't know if that is true or not but it isn't the fundamental philosophy of Democracy itself.

It seems to me that ALL PARTIES are prone to either that or corruption.

No surprise and that's what makes them no better than all of the other parties with the exception of SD ..... well, with the exception of Jimmie Åkesson. To be perfectly honest Jimmie Åkesson, Oskar Sjöstedt, and Paula Bieler are good but I am not very fond of Eckeroth, Jömshof, and Karlsson. If Åkesson were to leave the party today I don't think SD would make it to the elections.

BTW: Have you read "Satis polito"? If not, you should. It is very good.

Well, the election is really near and it looks as if the haydays of Sweden's notorious Social Democrats are counted. By the next election the pasokification will be complete.

Recent polls show that S have lost no less than 3/10 voters(!!!) and ironically, most of these belong to the populus S claims to represent - the working class and the uneducated.

It seems Swe Dems will become the biggest party.

The Swedes have already claimed the Russians are 'meddling' in it. As to the topic - I might be wrong but the female vote will always go to the most liberal party, so I think there will be no change. Probably the election itself will be a waste of time. Good to have a dedicated thread on which questions can be asked and answered though, so thanks Ritter.

Since Sweden has a system based on proportion, most elections result in nothingness as parties often have to co-operate with their enemies. I am not sure exactly where the female vote rests as we speak, but your observation is a general pattern that is true also for Sweden; women tend to vote for Left Party, Green Party or the Social Democrats. Although I think Sweden Democrats are growing in this group too.

However, the old structures are really starting to crack up; S are losing lots of support and Mp and KD might not even be able to break the threshold. Centre Party have recently gone full cuckoo and we might see new coallitions between S, C and L on one side and SD, M (and KD if they make it) on the other.

I plan to stay home and do something productive like washing my hair or maybe clean the house. :D

    Cheers, m8.

Here is a chart showing support by gender:

It is important to note, however, that this poll has been published by Public Service and we all know what that means. :p

I have talked about this in the opening pages, but to sum it up, the Swedish political climate is really skewed in that there is no actual right. But, M and KD are the most Conservative ones with the most market-oriented view on economics. SD are to be counted as "right" too and L and C are disguised Leftists who claim to be pro-freedom when, really, they are not. Green Party, Social Dems and Left are - obviously - the Leftist.

This is a real ball of wax subject. Inside Sweden so much has been said on it and it is about 127% BS. Personally, I see SD awfully close to what Social Democrats once were .... and what should be. But that's the personal point of view of a lifetime Social Democrat (ahem, me) who's seen enough crap from that Party that still calls itself Social Democrat. OK, enough of that. But let's see how Jimmie Åkesson himself appraised the situation. He was asked to place the various political parties in a broad line depicting their position in relation to "right" and "left" according to his own opinion. He was given little blocks with the party initials and photo of each leader. My apologies to those who do not understand Swedish but the way he moves the blocks around the table ought to be self-explanatory and the video is only 3 minutes long so I think most non-Swedish speakers will get the gist of it ..... without being too bored. I hope this helps to answer your question, Liberty Monkey.

I agree with him, by the way.

That was an epic moment in Swedish TV history. :D

PS. That reporter is someone I'd love to punch in the face.

Yes, sorry. Reporter. That whole interview was full of epic moments such as when she asked about "equal parental leave" and the audience started booing.

Yes, the whole interview is great. She is such an idiot, asking the same old stupid questions. But the one that really upsets me the most is this one: The logic of this ape Henrik Malmrot really makes me angry. Note how he repeats the same word in nearly every sentence.

I absolutely lost it when the Leftist said "Don't interrupt me while I am speaking" after spending minutes on defending Ung Vänster's right to interrupt Åkesson's speeches.
