WTF is wrong with people? This phony call involved 200 people and is going to cost over $300,000! I just don't understand what would posses someone to do something like this... If you listen to the video it is an adult male that called, not a kid... an ADULT. I hope the FBI catches these people and punishes them severely.

Here is a link to the story with a video.

Sounds like an older white male with a grievance against the gov't or coast guard specifically.

    I completely agree, Margot.

If not already, it certainly should be a criminal offense to misdirect rescue services in this manner, possibly endangering lives and compromising response to a true emergency situation.

It's not in the least funny in my opinion. In fact, I'll go as far as saying the idiot/s that perpetrated this, not only should get a little time and community service, but should be ditched slapped, just before having their ass thrown in jail.

    *grin*

They said if he/they were caught they would have to pay back the coast guard, plus a fine, plus the possibility of 10 years in prison.

they deserve a good ass kicking, im talking steel toe boots to the mouth repeatedly and then to the eye sockets.i dont know what i would do if some one "swatted" my home and i found out who they were. knowing how police must handle a situation the SWAT team would shoot my dogs and then of course they would get rough with others inside because of false info given to them by a sick freak.

honestly, if people get the death penalty for putting peoples lives in so much danger i would greatly approve.

I thought it was an effort to tie up Coast Guard assets as a diversion by a drug running operation.

Imagine if "swatting" happened in a state like Indianna where they just passed a law OKaying people to use deadly force against LEO's. IMAGINE THAT.

Wow, that's gonna bite! I'll bet if caught and convicted, they'll think twice before pulling this little stunt again.

Thank for the update Irish. I had not read the latest.
