DALLAS – The all-clear has been given at Dallas Love Field Airport after an officer shot a woman who began firing in a terminal Monday, according to Dallas police.

According to the Dallas Police Department, around 10:59 a.m., a 37-year woman entered the Southwest Airlines terminal ticket counter area and went into the restroom. When she came out, she was wearing a hoodie and armed with a handgun.

The woman fired several rounds, possibly aiming at the ceiling.

An officer was in the area and quickly engaged with the suspect, shooting her in the lower extremities, according to police. She was taken to the hospital. Her condition was not known.

No passengers or officers were injured.

When the situation began, police were seen blocking off an entrance to the airport and an ambulance was seen leaving the terminal.

Another win for the good guys. I wonder how she got the gun and who she is?

Fascinating how people with guns shooting people has been normalised.

It isn't normalized. The media jumps on some stories, others get ignored. My bet is it's based on click value.

Political correctness doesn’t allow you to see most of the shootings in this country and who’s doing it. Did you noticed how it was a cop with a gun who stopped the woman and not a social worker?

Feel free to elaborate. I wouldn't want to assume you mean what I think you mean.

Not too long ago the people who hate cops first wanted to disarm them, then they wanted to replace them with social workers after defunding them.

"Bethany, a social worker from the city, came to the autonomous zone after calls to vastly reduce the role of police became a topic of national debate. While handing out white flowers next to a memorial for those killed in police shootings, Bethany said social workers, not law enforcement, should be tasked with responding to mental health emergencies."

IDK but if she was shooting at the ceiling, it sounds like an attempted suicide by cop situation

i thought the same thing, but I’ll wait for the vid. If that was the case why not just walk in wearing the hoodie anyway and start blasting? For that matter people have been engaged by leo’s in front of the airport and gotten shot.

at least no normal people were injured.

edit; thanks to SteveN we know it was a bank robber and apparently not worth showing her face on the news!
A black woman shooting up an airport, this will get NO traction in the news.

they have not identified her yet, but from what I have read on the local stations here, she was dropped off at Dallas Love Field, went into the bathroom near the main lobby, came out, started firing into the air, the police responded and shot her.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/dfw/news/dallas-police-investigating-shots-fired-love-field/

"A witness told CBS 11, "She basically came toward the middle of the area and was like, 'I have an announcement to make.' And then she just basically had a hood and she pulled the gun from underneath the hood, fired the first shot up, and then it just kind of scattered after that."

Law enforcement has not officially released the name although Chief Garcia of DPD said "Odufuwa is at Parkland Hospital." I am assuming Odufuwa is the perpetrator, but unsure.

That's what happens in Texas. Criminal shooters don't get many shots fired off in a public area before they are shot dead.

She had previously been convicted of robbing a bank.

It looks like she has a last name from Nigeria. Her father might be a Nigerian immigrant.

Pretty sure they were wanting social workers to go to events where their was a non-violent disturbance, especially in cases of mental illness. Very few people would want to send a social worker in — alone — against someone that is firing a weapon.

I agree that is a ridiculous idea. Anyone waving a gun or weapon = police.

People have been shooting each other for hundreds of years with guns, before that killing with other tools.

In fact, the number of incidents of people killing each other throughout history compared to contemporary times is drastically down.

Or possibly just someone who is prone to emotional overreactions and has poor decision-making skills. You know, the sort of person that might attack a fast-food worker for a mistake in her order, or because they ran out of a desired item.

I think it's kind of cute that you think he was aiming for her legs. All domestic police firearm training I'm aware of teaches cops to shoot the threat in the center of mass until it is no longer a threat. If she was hit in the legs, its extremely unlikely that it is because that's where he was aiming. It's significantly more likely that the cop simply missed the center of mass and hit her there instead, unintentionally.

100% accurate. It’s always center mass unless theres extenuating circumstances. We’ve seen some “bad background” shootings and things can go south very easily.

A long time ago I took the police test and one of the questions was about a hostage situation. There was no 'wing 'em' choice, the answer was shoot to kill.
