Police report 'active shooter' near Planned Parenthood

I hope this is not another case of anti-abortionist, right-wing Christian terrorism, motivated by conservative media and propaganda. But I suspect otherwise. Hopefully the issue is resolved without any fatalities.

 

Someone should tell the shooter that we will cancel all the abortions if he will only agree to take care of the kids himself, and be responsible for them. Then he'll put the gun in his own mouth, pull the trigger, and make the world a better place.

Oh well, a man can dream.

Two of your sources still say "near", including one with the headline "at" and CNN reported that the initial report was "at" but the police have since changed it to "near" and there are lots of businesses in that area, so you have no added anything with your efforts.

 

I think the point is, unless there is some information left out specifically saying this is related to Planned Parenthood, what is the point of putting it into the headline of the article? Would seem to be an attempt to drive opinion beforehand.

 

I was addressing that point. It's being reported that the shooting incident is at a Planned Parenthood clinic, or close enough that it is journalistically relevant. It's possible that a random nut with a gun chose the location randomly, but we're all thinking the same thing.

That's the problem with this "breaking news" crap online - information is not yet very clear, so we end up with conflicting reports and inaccurate claims based on this source or that. There's no point speculating about the shooter's motive until proper info comes to light. So, OK, it might just as well be "at or near" a church at this point. Tells us nothing useful. However, I'm sure this is another mentally disturbed fellow just given what he's reportedly doing so far, barricading himself and shooting at police and civilians. Does it matter whether he's targeting any group in particular, then? I don't think so - it's not really important what political or religious views mentally unstable people hold and act upon, because they're not really relevant to the sane majority..

Muslim kills people = all Muslims guilty

Blacks kill people = all blacks guilty

Whites kill people = nothing to see here, just a mentally disturbed lone shooter

 

It is a knee-jerk reaction to think that, and irresponsible reporting to throw it out there without a connection. It is not like Planned Parenthood clinics are in secluded areas where some nutjob running around firing would most likely be linked to the PP site. Planned Parenthoods are on normal street corners and strip malls. Could just as easily be somebody robbing a liquor store.

 

And I hope it's not another left winger off his medication.

 

In a perfect world, sure. That would be great. The simple fact is teens and others are going to have kids they can't take care of. It's sad, but it's true. Still, my parents are pro-life, so it's not like I hate all pro-lifers, I was just tossing a little humor into the mix. The only way I would think you are nutty is if you didn't believe in at the very least an exception for the life of the mother. Also, abortion was illegal in the past, remember? And women were buying a lot of coat hangers, so I don't think overturning Roe v. Wade is the answer.

The connection is the location: Planned Parenthood

 

So the idiot talking heads and their pundits at CNN are speculating that the police are not going to negotiate - they're going to 'eliminate' the shooter. This is based on some vague comment a police spokesman made that didn't in any way indicate what the cops were planning.

So now if the shooter happens to have CNN around he's going to be a little desperate and probably feel he has nothing to lose, which won't be helpful to the hostages.

 

Americans killing other Americans. Oh the humanity.

 

Not when it is 'near it'. That 'connection' is so worthless and spurious that it has no business in a news article. The only reasons it is there are a journalistic attempt to be on top of a story, just in case it pans out, and an attempt to draw early views.

 

I agree we need to wait and see, we do not know the religion, the party, the race or even the purpose as of yet, too soon to reach any conclusions
