having raised both a boy and a girl, I can say there was more fear of a heterosexual then a homosexual molesting either... heterosexual men to be specific.. sucks that we even have to worry about those kinda things as parents

Considering that child molesters are 95% men, and essentially are virtually all of the predators against children- putting any men in charge of a boys locker room is statistically a risky thing to do.

I mean if the concern is protecting children from sexual predators.

If the concern is merely appearances not safety- sure make a show of excluding male homosexuals and tell parents that way their kids are safe.

And men like Jerry Sandusky are free to act.

 

we had a lesbian coach at my school. She didn't have locker-room duty like the other female coaches did. And that's good.

it's smart for both sides as it protects her career from vindictive girls who knew she was gay, who may have failed personal fitness class, and was looking to get back. if lesbian teacher is on locker-room duty, it's easier to say "she only flunked me because I got mad when she was checking me out while dressing out"

Remember- the BSA has a history of men molesting boys in their charge- even with with their policy of excluding homosexuals. So clearly the BSA's policy is not working.

I have yet to see any of the people who post here exploiting the very real issue of child sexual molestation pretending to care about the safety of children be willing to address what is a quantifiable and absolute way to reduce child molestation.

Exclude men from dealing with minors, and 95% of child molestation(outside the home) will be eliminated.

Since no one is ever willing to discuss the very real and measurable issue of men molesting children, and only want to discuss excluding male homosexuals, it is very apparent to me that this issue is just an excuse to attack homosexuals.

if men were molesting boys throughout the history, just means the closeted gays were already involved in the BSA. so, given that history, you wonder why people are concerned with being allowed to flaunt that risky behavior in parents faces... and then wonder why alternative options to the scouts, that don't allow gay men around young boys, is gaining popularity? lol
