In 1992 George H. W. Bush lost his bid for re-election to Bill Clinton. Bush's problems stemmed from two sources. He lost the enthusiastic support of his base when he broke his pledge not to raise taxes. Second was Ross Perot, who, as a third party candidate, took a portion of his vote. By this time, political buttons had little to do with the race. They were, and still are mostly made for collectors. Today the parties and pacs spend the bulk of their money on TV advertising. Here is my collection of buttons from 1992. The only Petot button is below the tag with "William J. Clinton" in blue. Please ignore the "Deplorable Me" button. It is resting there since I didn't have another place to put it.
