"A Marine who said he was waiting for "Civil war 2" and two other active-duty members of the military have been charged with participating in the riot at the U.S. Capitol, authorities said in newly filed court papers."

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/3-active-duty-marines-charged-in-jan-6-capitol-assault/

These 3 will pay a steep price for participating in an Insurrection. Active duty military are subject to military courts and the UCMJ. These 3 stand a good chance of getting convicted of treason and , at the very least, spending the rest of their lives in a military prison busting rocks.

***k them. This is the height of betrayal.
Of course , the MAGA's will come out of the woodwork to defend them, just like they defend the Orange Stain.

If they are convicted, they will be dishonorably discharged from the military, which means no benefits for them, not even burial in a National Cemetary.

The first two libs to post here are literally gleeful that lives and careers can be ruined, even in death, because some people did something*. Yes, going into a public building and putting a hat on a statue deserves life long stigma and condemnation from the people who preach tolerance, second chances and loves trumps hate. This says more about how much hate some people can generate for people they don’t even know than the three people who signed up to protect them.

    *crediting Omar.

Thousands of mostly peaceful protesters were released without being charged and the left trotted out the all too sickening excuse of equity.

Kangaroo court blather. Contrary to what you're trying to sell, they weren't charged with participation in an "insurrection" or "treason" by the federal government. The Marines Corp. spokesperson said they are investigating and that doesn't tell us anything about their status. Try reading your actual source and stop with the made-up stuff.

"Micah Coomer, Joshua Abate and Dodge Dale Hellonen were arrested this week on misdemeanor charges after their fellow Marines helped investigators identify them in footage among the pro-Trump mob on Jan. 6, 2021, according to court papers." "The trio face charges including illegal entry and disorderly conduct."

Look it up. In this country, it's considered minor wrongdoing and not a felony.

Quite different than what the O/P has described as their crimes.

The article also said the Marines are investigating. The O/P gave us information that was not provided by his source.

They have every right to protest. Participating in a protest isn't insurrection or wrong at all.

    Sounds like a witch hunt.

They are allowed to protest if they like, they are allowed to have opinions Dems don’t like. At best they will get an other than honorable discharge, or even a medical discharge.

“betrayal”, “insurrection” lmao. The hyperbole is set to max today.

Yep! But being part of a mob that stormed the Capitol, broke into the building and and did what Nancy called “Poo poo” on the floor and walls is a different thing altogether

If that's all it took to almost destroy democracy then this country has serious security issues

The vast majority trespassed, and did nothing you mentioned. They took selfies.

And here is what these Marines are being charged with. Peacefully protesting at the Peoples House.

The men spent about 52 minutes inside the Capitol, authorities said. At one point while they were in the rotunda, they put a red "Make American Great Again" hat on a statue to take pictures with it, according to court papers. Hellonen was carrying a "Don't Tread on Me" flag, authorities said.

I'm not maga, but let their penalty be similar to what other insurrectionists got. Being in the military doesn't supersede your civic duty as a citizen, and those who chose to attack Congress to placate a seditious malignant narcissist should be treated accordingly.
But I would also counsel some compassion because those people were brainwashed by someone they thought they could trust.
The heavy hand of justice should fall on the main player and not his sad, brainwashed followers, one of which died for her stupidity.

Hey, I bet you would give the same benefit of the doubt to an Antifa guy storming the Capitol to overturn a lawful election -- not.

What it shows, however, is that you and other RW posters on this forum have deep sympathy for the 1/6 rioters. Why? Because you had hoped they would have been successful in keeping Trump in power.

Seems the posters that support 1/6, calling it a protest :), forget active duty servicemen have a stricter code of conduct.

Even CBS is reporting it as a riot. It was a riot, no matter how many people 'demonstrated' or 'active duty' members participated. There was no credible attempt to overthrow the American Government. The Justice Department in the end could only get a half-baked 'conviction' that was the jury's version of saying 'really?'

Can you tell us why they entered that building?
What were they trying to do (or prevent)?

Ah yes, another example of Liberty being strangled to thunderous applause.
