President Barack Obama has vowed to keep pushing for new gun control measures and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the failed gun vote in the Senate was “just the beginning.” However, the latest Reason-Rupe national poll finds just 33 percent of Americans feel the “Senate should debate and vote on gun control legislation again,” while 62 percent want the Senate to “move on to other issues.”

This data is surprising given earlier polls finding what appeared to be overwhelming support for expanding background check for firearm purchases. For instance, Gallup found that 83 percent of Americans favored a law requiring background checks for all gun purchases. The Washington Post/ABC poll found that 86 percent of Americans support a law requiring background checks on people buying guns at gun shows or online.

Americans were worked up into an emotional frenzy and not that has subsided with all this other crap going on. They will need another shooter to try and put it on the table again because Americans are back to caring about why they don't have jobs and why the government spies on them.

Too bad the progressives couldn't ring a few more tears out of the public but I guess it's hard to do when any of us has an actual .0083% chance of being shot but a 25% chance of being raped, and a 50% chance of losing our jobs.

    It's the economy stupids.

Progressive narrative, my friend, progressive. I, and other libertarians, are true classical liberals. They are statist poseurs. :D

But, yes, that is their narrative. For the children. For the greater good. For whatever.

Obamacare is the millstone they're currently desperately trying to shed for midterms....if they can con enough people with their "wonderfulness" and "lower premiums" lies, propaganda, child "messengers" and "endorsement" seeking to win back the House, it won't matter how many Americans want Big Fed to drop gun control efforts.

They are an abominous, unfunny wreck. All they need is a few more Paul, Cruz, and Amashes running against them and they will crumble because they are passe, last year, and unintelligent on any of the issues that the younger generation is facing.

abominous, unfunny wreck is an understatement and soon to be an irrelevant footnote.....because "Amnesty" all but guarantees the voices of a more libertarian younger generation will be rendered moot.

doesn't matter, the anti-2nd gun grabbers will keep marching on. It just means they'll need to enlist more help from Hollywood and their media press corps.

I am anti-2nd amendment, but I don't think it's a useful allocation of the President's time right now.

We have more important things to do.

Well if they had renamed it background checks instead of gun control, they probably would have gotten a much higher number favoring it. When you say gun control, that can mean a lot of different things and knowing how many Liberals want to take our guns from us, it's no wonder they got so little favoring it.

Oh sure, he has some more Pakistani kids to kill, more Americans to put on the assassination list, more Gitmo prisoners to starve, more civil liberties to declare void, and more dinners with Jay-Z and Beyonce to attend to. It's work, work, work for him.

I am only responding so you'll have another opprotunity to quote me and justify some more pointless Obama bashing. Maybe try something about his wife this time.

    They won't stop trying unfortunately.

People didn't want Obamacare...but they ignored the economy to focus on it anyway. People don't want Illegal Alien amnesty....but again, they're ignoring more pressing concerns and wasting time on it. People don't want gun control...but...well, you know how this goes...

Why would I do that? You'll find no posts where I pick on wives and children and, in fact, have defended Michelle from the barbarian hordes.

My problems are with the wretched liar in the Oval Office based on consistent principles that I likewise applied to Romney and the prior administration. I realize that you live in Partisan World, but please try in the future to recognize that not everyone does, nor do we all follow the Two Party Bad Behavior playbook.

Your previous response to my post shows that you do indeed live in partisan world, despite your denial.

No, I just have a lot of fun pointing out to progressives that their idol has clay feet. Ask anyone, I can do the same trick with Romney or Bush.

I hate statists and have no party to feel partisan towards. I am an anarchist, ergo no "strong supporter of a party, cause, or person."

    :D

    Oh, forgive me.

I used to think the way you do. It's not partisan land, it's la la land.

I really doubt that you have ever thought the way I do. It's quite apparent that you think the way you're told to, but I did use to think the same way as you do now. I was young, naive, and watched entirely too much television. Then I got a driver's license and graduated high school.

Awww, the sweet smells of freedom.

Do I still have the natural right to NOT purchase a private sector product and remain unmolested by government?

No one can force you to do that.
