You didn't refute his argument. You just employed the argumentative fallacy of Poisoning the Well. You couldn't refute the message so you attacked the messenger in hopes you could somehow denigrate the message.

If you would read the minutes of the Constitutional Convention for Sept 6, 1787 you would find that what Lordfly posted is *exactly* the truth. The FF's from low population states like New Hampshire and Delaware didn't want to be dominated by high population states like Pennsylvania and Virginia. So the FF's set up the EC where, if necessary, enough low population states could band together to defeat the high population states.

Tell me again who never took a course in "Civics"?

Using the popular vote is a pipedream. Those who advocate for it have never thought through the logistics. In the Bush v Gore election, ONE county in FL held up the ability to declare a winner for so long that the Supreme Court had to step in to stop the recounting.

With a popular vote in a closely contested election EVERY SINGLE VOTE IN THE NATION would have to be recounted since every single vote would count toward determining the winner. It could take literally months to recount every single vote and would impact the transfer of power to the new administration quite negatively. We could literally have the Speaker of the House as the President for months - trying to set up an administration that would probably get completely overturned when the new President finally gets decided.

This would embolden our enemies to do all kinds of things we simply would not be in a position to affect.

Aside form the fact that the electoral college was placed in the constitution prior to any amendments...
What steps have you taken to amend the Constitution? I mean other than whine on message boards?
How do you plan to get 13 of the small states to vote for that amendment?

Says he who claimed Western democracies, as a rule, elected their head of government by popular vote, and wound up not being able name a single one that does so.

    This is unsupportable nonsense.
