A traditional American pastime is pool and music.

I prefer playing pool while listening to Sinatra.

    Some prefer Opera, hot stuff.

I've got a pool player brother in England who grew up playing snooker then switched to pool.
He still watches and adores his snooker.
I'm a guitar player in England who grew up doing everything BUT snooker to distance myself away from that scene through photography, basketball, art and then guitar; 2 and half years my elder, we were both closest in age with each other, so when he decided he wanted to go to a snooker club, I was invited along with our father for that activity, and I was the one who got him into snooker clubs as my brother's favourite snooker player Jimmy White was playing at the local and I noticed it on the marquee from the family car driving by, I remember pointing that out to everybody which lead to my brother getting to shake hands with and get Jimmy White's autograph.
Jimmy White was playing an unknown called Ronnie O' Sullivan that night; they both (my father and my brother) met Ronnie O' Sullivan that night, when they asked where Jimmy White was, Ronnie O' Sullivan helped them out; then soon afterwards noticed Ronnie O' Sullivan's rise to fame on the TV and regretted not asking for his autograph; thankfully however, Ronnie O' Sullivan came back to the same snooker club and my brother got to go with my father again, and so his autograph was added to my brother's autograph collection - My brother, still a child at the time then joined the snooker club at the minimum age. Then he joined another one in the centre of town and left that one, and then another one, after leaving that one, back in the neighbourhood; So when Steve Davies, another one of my brother's Snooker Heros came to do tricks shots 'like an exhibition Harlem Globe Trotter type snooker'; there's a 1990's Steve Davies on home recorder in that snooker club playing snooker with my brother filmed by my father in the family archives; my brother also got Steve Davies autograph too, and added it to his collection.
From all that growing up with a brother close in age nuts about the sport from the age of 3, I know...
    147 is the maximum break.
    red is 1
    black is 7
    pink is 6
the tables are bigger than pool tables.

I had to watch it on TV back in the day when most houses had the 1 TV, and then there was this snooker TV show called Big Break that my brother still to this day has phases of watching it on TV.
My brother tried out music a child, wrote a snooker song.
    Loves his snooker.
My cousin's wedding, cousins from Tooting, my aunt on my father's side may she RIP; my brother was regaled by how my aunt's husband knew Jimmy White and used to have Jimmy White round for snooker, back at 1996 wedding we all went to.

He plays pool now in a leagued pub team in the Surrey League.

When we were young men coming up in town, people knew who he was and who I was when him playing is pool and my playing my guitar, but they didn't know we were brothers; but when they found out the compliments were like
'wow, he's really good at snooker, and he's really good at guitar, what a talented family' from this guy my age who I knew from town as I playing guitar one day because I found a guitar at someone's house and 10 of us just walked in straight from this nightclub one night.
