Truthfully, i think it is just convenient politics. IMO He is anti iran With the same conviction he is pro christian.
Its complicated. The Middle East looks like Iran, Palestine, Syria versus legit the entire rest of the region.
We have (Armenian) christians in Iran, and have respected them for centuries. I don't understand why he is adversary to Iran as a nation (he repeatedly uses the word "nation")

As i tried to explain, trump often takes positions simply because it is in his best interest. Like when he absurdly promised that mexico would pay for the wall. In the case of iran, trump is opposec to all that is obama... so he must maintain that the deal with iran was stupid. Pre-eminent among trump supporters is support if israel. As you know, israel wants to weaken iran in all possible ways... and therefore wants to present iran as a reckless supporter of terrorism and an immanent threat. Trump wants to harmonize with this view in order to keep the political support of this group. Btw, our fundamentalist Christians are of the conviction that the state of israel represents a fulfillment of biblical prophesy... and therefore israel musf be supported against all threats...and your former leader has definitively cast iran as an implacable enemy of israel... therefore these evangelicals are unwavering lap dogs of even the most extreme israeli positions
Iran has to do its part. If they really want to take the wind out of Trump's sails (and Bibi's) they should call off HAMAS and Hezbollah, leave Lebanon alone and put the screws to the al Houthis in Yemen.
