Generally speaking those in poverty are by-products of their
upbringing.Their Parents and relatives either consistently made bad
choices and decisions in their life or just found a sort of easy adaptability
    to lead cushy,responsibility-free existences.
The only way out was either to hit rock bottom or be humiliated into
a different attitude.Kinda like what Jerry Springer tries to accomplish.
Show a person who behaves badly how really silly they appear.
And that it doesn't have to be that way.
Schlock people into changing bad habits, like accepting being Very Poor.

Perhaps there is a third option you are not considering. This might be a stretch for some, but conservatives would rather people be responsible with their sexuality in the first place. It would greatly reduce the stress on the situation. You'd have less people born into poverty. How can that be a bad thing?

Yes. We should force women to sterilize themselves and abort their children. At least, that's what Joe Biden and John Holdren believe we ought to do.

While not many charities have a national reach, there are thousands of local charities spread across the country, and especially in areas where needy people tend to congregate. Between these charities everyone in need can be helped.

Read my posts again. I was making no comparisons between the UK, the USA, or any other country. I was discussing the endless cycle of poverty, and the attitudes of many people to it. Go wave your nationalist banners elsewhere.

Poverty comes a close third to two other evils.

The first is the indifference of those who could lift people out of poverty not to do so.

The second is those who willingly condemn people to poverty and exploit them into poverty in order to live their own lives in comfort.

I rank the actual state of poverty third because people have the ability to adapt to and endure their circumstances.

Wow, I'm actually agreeing with Awryly a bit, especially considering that the only people who can permanently lift those in poverty out of poverty are themselves. If anyone else does so, it is just a temporary fix and the poor slide right back into poverty.
