Perhaps this explains Trump phenomenon....... "Most of your life takes place in a made-up world. You live in a country whose name and whose borders were made up by people. You allow particular humans to be leaders of that country, such as a president or a member of Congress, by following procedures invented by people long dead, such as elections, and you give them powers that were also made up by people. You acquire food and other goods with something called “money,” which is represented by pieces of paper and metal and even by electromagnetic waves flowing through the air, and which is also completely made up. You actively and willingly participate in this made-up world every day. It is real to you. It’s as real as your own name, which, by the way, was also made up by people" "Humans are the only animals on this planet who can simply make things up, agree on them as a group, and they become real." "Social reality is an incredible gift. You can simply make stuff up, like a meme or a tradition or a law, and if other people treat it as real, it becomes real." https://undark.org/2021/01/01/book-...ons-about-the-brain/?utm_source=pocket-newtab
Maybe I just voted for Donald Trump verrrrrrry reluctantly because I feel that Joe Biden is old as dirt itself (a verifiable objective fact)
Why the Trump phenomenon? Why not the Obama phenomenon? Do you consider yourself somehow above social reality?
This is not exclusive to humans. Elephants can be made to live under human control through limiting beliefs. When it comes down to it, its not the pieces of paper or electromagnetic waves or the sound of our names; it is what we experience that makes us who we are and represents what we own. Money allows us to experience a fun day out with our family without having to lug bananas to trade for spearheads, to trade for mutton, etc. Many territorial species create borders. Some do it with urine while others use weapons or build walls. Those that did not protect their hunting/gathering grounds from invaders were less likely to fulfill their biological drive to procreate. As we sit here and enter text on a forum on the internet, just know that we are doing the same thing monkeys do, we are just using a different method!
Not at all....I doubt there are many above it...if any at all. But the concept does seem to offer some explanation for Trump popularity. I have never experienced any thing like the Trump paradigm in my lifetime.... it's both fascinating and terrifying at the same time.
The most stunning example of social (un)reality I've witnessed is the notion that a man becomes a woman if he thinks he is a woman.
Yes...something I have heard of...but not seen personally yet. Do you suppose there maybe some ultimately intentional essential purpose for the present crumbling of our our social "man made" reality? As if "this" has to occur before humans can evolve to the next stage....
