I know that we shouldn't assume an attorney is corrupt just because they defend a corrupt individual. But how does one avoid it in the case of Trump when things like keep happening over and over?

Your assumption has no basis in fact, and given the defamation lawsuits, it's not even logical. I very much doubt that Dominion has anything left to hide. Everything is part of the record in their successful suit against Fox News. Their lawyers would have had the same documents from the discovery process.
