Progressives Are No Longer Defenders Of Free Expression

The left is Victorian -- increasingly puritanical, regressive, and hypersensitive. Even totalitarian censorship and book-burning have weirdly become part of their by-any-means-necessary methods.

University of California, Berkeley, professor Grace Lavery was so outraged by author Abigail Shrier's latest book, "Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters," that she went beyond the usual calls to ban the book. Lavery advocated burning Shrier's book.”

The secular progressive left have become the messengers of hate and intolerance. They are the face of opposition to the free expression ideas and of tolerance for the presence or mention of any diversity of ideas. The tactics they resort to to deny expression and speech rights of their opposition varies depending on the group and platform involved.

You are of course exactly right. Great point!

 

I take a slight umbrage. This is not new with progressives. They have always been adamantly intolerant of free speech and expression for anyone not of the progressive bent. Their fight for free speech was always confined to them.

 

Having someone respond negatively to what you say does not limit your right to say it.

 

This. Rather than an "are no longer" situation it's more of a "have never been" situation.
