Putin threatens West with nuclear weapons if troops come to Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened Thursday to use nuclear weapons if Western allies come to Ukraine’s aid, in his annual state of the nation speech.

In the address to Russia’s Federal Assembly, Putin boasted of his country’s nuclear arsenal, including the deployment of new hypersonic missiles. He then referenced a controversial idea stirred up by French President Emmanuel Macron to send troops to Ukraine, which was swiftly rejected by the U.S. and other members of the Western alliance NATO.


But, Putin doubled down on his threats against any NATO action, saying “potential aggressors will face far graver consequences” if they enter Russian territory.

I say its time to put this loudmouth to the test instead of cowering behind Ukraine.

He hasn't even been able to take a small neighboring country going on 3 years and thinks he will launch nuclear weapons? He's all talk.

Most of his nuclear arsenal is liquid fueled, which take 60-90 minutes to fuel.
We have birds looking down on Russia 24/7
If he so much as raised a nuke they would be taken out with sub launched tomahawks.

If he was able to launch one, Russia would be a very quiet place for about 10,000 years.

If we're going to spend 100 billion, why not win it?
Everyone globally knows Ukraine will fall. Its just a matter of attrition.
They don't have the people to throw at this so no amount of money is going to win this by itself.

 

I dont think people realize how quickly things can escalate to nuclear war.

We may know Ukraine isnt russian territory, but that doesn’t mean putin agrees.

 

It’s fascinating to watch them jump from we shouldn’t be funding any wars to “we need to show them”. Further strange to see so many of the same parrot Russian narratives while calling themselves patriots.

Personally, I think funding Ukraine to expel the dictator and damaging the Russian economy from all directions without boots on the ground is the best return we could ask for.

 

Given that America fought a 20 year against goat herders, lost and left the Taliban in a far more powerful position than when the war started.... I think we have pretty much have set the bar for military failure.

If Putin launched all 6,000 of his warheads simultaneously, America would be a memory. It would simply cease to exist. Sure Russia would be wiped out as well. As I and everybody I love would be dead, I wouldn't consider that a win. It could possibly be a win for China if they survived the nuclear winter.

This is the problem with modern society, they have not experienced total war. They have no concept of entire cities ceasing to exist in less than a second. They have not seen people killed in the millions like my grandfather's generation saw.

I don't give a damn who rules Ukraine and neither should anybody else in the West. It is clear that the current leaders are intent on all out total war. Given that they aren't going to find much cannon fodder willing to throw their lives away for it, it will almost certainly go nuclear within months of Western soldiers landing in the Ukraine. If we can hold out for just a few months more, we hopefully can a get a new administration that will sign a treaty and end the stupidity.

Why would he need nukes? I thought his mercs, draftees and prison inmates are slaughtering Ukrainians, shouldn’t the rest of nato merely require him using his real troops to continue the slaughter into the rest of Europe?
