In the wake of this shooting in Orlando I was reading a comment on some website on how a person visited both Facebook and Reddit for about 10 minutes before finding out about this terror attack. Although there's no way to know if this guy was telling the truth or lying, it got me thinking about censorship and it's effects on society. One thing I've kind of learned from reading censorship-related books such as Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, etc. is that often the censorship in the book character's community leads them to be more invested in the "forbidden material" their society abhors, thus making the censorship counterproductive. I know there's a particular name for this phenomenon, that by attempting to censor, restrict, or otherwise erase something you end up making it stronger or more prevalent in some form, but it's name, I can't remember. In addition I vaguely remember reading a Wikipedia article on it a while back, but still, just can't get the name for it.

    Thanks!
