if more people thought like this, there wouldn't be any religious tension IMO.

Now on to your last part.

Most Christians and Muslims (and Jews and Muslims, and Jews and Christians) do get along. Including religiously. Which is why there aren't any Holy Wars going on right now.

However, the fundementalists on all three sides of the Abrahimic trianlge have done a good job creating this tension between the Abrahimic religions.

Best way to fight this tension is what we are doing now. Talking. Learning. Asking questions. Showing respect to all faiths.

The more we know about other religions, the less likely we are to be influenced by the actions of fundementalists.

Atleast, that's how I see it. Knowledge cleans out ignorance 10 out of 10 times.

    Salam :)

Where did you get the idea that Holy War (Islamic jihad) is not going on right now ? Want to ask Libyans who witnessed jihaic killings lately ? Want to ask Egyptian Copts ? (Christians). wnat to ask soldiers at FORT Hood who survived the Hasan killings, and the latest one there who was caught before he could do it ? Or these events ? May13, 2011 - Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed attacks on two mosques simultaneously belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, killing nearly 100 and injuring many others.
July 2011 - Three bombs exploded at different locations in Mumbai, perpetrated by Indian Mujahideen. Then there's the killings of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlki, and Mommar Gaddafi. And the war in Aghanistan.

To some Muslims, it's a Holy War, to others, it's murder......It really depends on the personal interpitations that each person takes from the Quran. Claiming that all muslims feel the same way is stupid....That is where different sects and demoninations come from.

What the Koran say about it is quite clear:
A Muslim must fight the Jews and Christians until he rules them and they submit. Following that they must pay ransom for their life.
As for people with different religions, he must just kill them.

Now, show me the Muslim who has "personal interpretations" on that.

Of course. "followers of Islam" was a clear invitation for those two.

    Surat At-Tawbah:

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

Being that "interpretations" is one of you Islamapologists' main gimmicks, don't you think you ought to learn how to spell it ?

Jizyah isn't ransom. It's the tax for non-Muslims to be protected and given all rights (other than military) by the Muslim states. In return, Muslims pay Zakat which is more expensive and obligatory. The only non-Muslims who had to pay Jizyah were men who could afford it. If you couldn't, you weren't killed. It's like taxes you pay in America or Canada. If you don't pay your taxes, you don't have all you're rights as an American or Canadian citizen. Jizyah and Zakat are taxes under Islamic rule, however as I already mentioned if you can't afford Jizyah you didn't need to pay it.

Secondly, the main target of this verse doesn't seem to be Christians or Jews. They both believe in God and the Day of Judgement. Pagans, however, do not. And the verse before this one refers to Pagans. That would make me think the main target is the Pagans, and following that was anybody who sinned or refused one of 4 thing (see below).

Under Muslim rule you could do one of 4 things: Convert to Islam and pay Zakat, keep your faith and pay Jizyah, fight, or just leave.

So seeing as those were the options, if one refused to convert, pay Jizyah or move, that means they would fight. And Muslims were allowed to fight back in this case, until they decided to choose a different option.

Now I'm just waiting for this to be ripped apart by the Islamophobes.

    Salam :)

Tax to be protected ? HA HA HA.. Let's see, haven't we heard that before ? Oh yeah, the Mafia. Organized crime. Pay for protection. Also known as pay or get your head blown (or cut) off.

It was a tax for protection by the state in times of war and oppression, etc not from the state. Riht over your head, way to go... It was a tax to allow people to freely follow their faith and not be persecuted for it by others, and be given all the rights of the Muslims in a Muslim state (other than military service).

Yes, Islam and Christianity are equally low in their morals. Jesus and Mohammad were not good role models.

With all due respect, if you believe that, then you'll believe almost anything my friend (....if a self-proclaimed prophet puts enough fear into your heart, that is.)
Such as, say, that pigs can fly, which is the best example people use when trying to describe the ultimate absurdity. Believing that a man can fly on a flying horse is no less absurd than believing that pigs can fly. In fact, due to the horse having to support the man's weight as well as his own weight (which to begin with is more than a pig's weight), it might be MORE absurd that Mohammad flew on a magical flying horse, right? He made up that story because he couldn't explain how he was in Mecca and also 755 miles away in Jerusalem, in the same night.

An intelligent Secular Humanist can see through the magic of Mohammad/Jesus/Moses, etc.

Many people that believe things that are actually less crazy as pigs/horses flying are in mental institutions.

"I love the Jews"....is that in the Qur'an, then? That angel that Mohammad was allegedly talking to (angels, through god, can see the future of course) could have eliminated tons of problems for the Islamic belief if that angel would have simply told Mohammad to say that, but he didn't of course, because it wasn't really an angel.

Separate but equal, right! He just defended Apartheid. Incredible.

Non-Muslims do NOT have the same rights as Muslims in an Islamic state! Taqiyya much?

Islam is simply religious (vs. skin-based) Apartheid, where one group violently suppresses the other group, all for the aggrandisement/legacy of it's founder.

Some parts of Islam are good, but not that part, clearly.

    Qur'an 9:5, and 9:29, etc.
I'm not sure how someone can read the Qur'an the first time and not leave the religion the second they finish reading that chapter.

FALSE ! (Why am I not surprised- does this guy ever say anything true ?)
Since the beginnings of Muslim conquest, Christians and Jews were made to pay the jizyah at humiliating public ceremonies. In offering up the jizyah, the Dhimmi had to hang his head while the Muslim official, grabbing the Dhimmi's beard then struck him beneath the ear. In some areas, Chistians and Jews were made to wear a receipt for the Jizyah around their neck as a mark of dishonor.

Christians and Jews were forbidden to construct new churches, temples or synagogues. They were also forbidden from ringing their church bells or blowing the shofsar to begin services, just as they are forbidden today in Saudi Arabia and Iran. Dhimmis also were forced to wear distinctive clothing like a 9th century caliph in Bagdad, al-Mutawakkil, who designated a yellow badge for Jews to wear, which Hitler later copied and duplicated in Nazi Germany.

There is no Islamic Caliphate today, but in the past even as recent as the Ottoman Empire, they did.

Infact, while Christians in Europe were persecuting Jews, the Middle East under Ottoman rule was a safe haven for Jews who thrived in this part of the world.

Infact, when Christian Crusaders persecuted and massacred the Jews (and Muslims) in Jerusalem, it wasn't until Salah ad-Deen recaptured Jerusalem did Jews and Christians (and Muslims) all had equal rights in Jerusalem.

It isn't. It is forbidden to opress minorities. Muslims were opressed during the time of Muhammad (PBUH) and it would be hipocritical to opress people these days. And i know some some countries do do this, and it is wrong.

    Yaawn...

Links? References? Any historical documents to back any of these claims up? Facts are usually followed by proof during conversations.

Unless you were there. But wait, you have never stepped foot in a Muslim country, let alone a Muslim Caliphate. You have never paid Jizyah. You have never been to a Mosque in a Muslim country. Yet you know so much. Fascinating.

Says quite a bit about you when your view on Muslims is a blended view of countless Islamophobes, and not your own view from personal experience. What are people like that called? Sheep? Or is it sheeple? Something like that.

    Salam :)

So if you’re not Muslim you don’t pay ransom but protection money.

Let us see what wiki has to say about it:
A protection racket is an extortion scheme whereby a criminal group or individual coerces a victim (usually a business) to pay money, supposedly for protection services against violence or property damage. Racketeers coerce reticent potential victims into buying "protection" by demonstrating what will happen if they don't—they damage the victims' property. In most cases, the racketeers do not actually protect their client from anything but the racketeers themselves, and their "protection" is merely extortion. However, if their victim is seriously threatened by a third party, sometimes gangsters will protect their source of revenue.

When you take the Islamization quiz, and get a respectable grade on it, THEN, you can talk about knowing so much. Until then, you're just another know-nothing Islamapologist, MR QUIZ ZERO.
And, as I have to repeat so darn often, thereis no such thing as Islamophobia, and those who utter that ridiculous word, label themselves as liars when they have been informed of the Project and the Explanatory Memorandum, as well as many things that have been occuring in accordance with these proclamations. As for the information that I have put into your previously empty head....you're welcome.

You obviously have not traveled to Tehran lately where churches and synagogues are open for business.

Here in Egypt, the neighborhood synagogue was open for business for Sukkot.
